going on salary

So Last week My boss informed me that I would be going on Salary instead of hourly wages. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.

I worked out what I was making hourly and what I'm making on my new salary and it is about the same..

only now I cant get overtime. and I only get paid once a month

my question to anyone out there who knows about this stuff... is there any perks to being on salary? I dont get any benefits or anything and I'm not sure if paid sick days and vacation comes with salary or not and I havn't asked the boss man.

it seems pointless to change you to salary if theyre just going to give you the same pay. are you making comission or anything? maybe your cut is going up?

bottom line is you're getting fucked. they want you to work more and pay you less. if you aren't getting anything extra for moving to salary then you're getting screwed. shit.. even with a raise, likely youll wind up working more then you woulda got in the o.t. anyway. this is a commond trend in the new bust economy... similar to 'no motion' e.g. getting a promotion without getting any pay increase

this is what I was afraid of..

I am thankful to have a job, and I was promoted about 3 months ago, so I can't complain, but now I just know that extra hours are coming my way with no extra pay
