What kind of games do you play with your friends/family?

Seems like everytime a gathering goes past an hour straight with friends and family we will inevitably end up playing a game. Board games, card games, word games or even sports games. And I actually love it. Few things get me as excited as really getting into a good game with loved ones. The silly things that happen are always hilarious in their way..

With friends it's primarily drinking games, of course. Guys will be guys. Texas holdem for sips of beer or push ups. A game called 13, too. Also sometimes we arm wrestle or have contests to see who can do what the best (run, jump, throw, etc). Then of course there's the sports: basketball and tennis for us.

With family we play trvial pursuit or Monopoly or that LIFE game. We also play lawn games like badminton and croquet. Or my younger siblings love to play the little kids games like Mercy, tag, and video games.

Last night I played charades with my drunk ass friends (I was stoned). It was a great way to kill time.

Games ftw?

I've spent probably weeks worth of hours playing the old school tetris with my sister. Which inevitably leads to the notorious "tetris dreams".

We used to play a lot of Mariokart and Smash when we still rolled with the '64.

My favorite thing to do in Goldeneye was to throw proximity mines where ammo boxes spawned.

I agree, all my friends have 360 and Wii, but it's just not the same as they used to be. I think the companies push to hard to make video games something more than they are.

growing up my family was all about board/card games. scrabble, boggle, phase 10, skip bo, trivial pursuit, risk, playing card games and tons more i can't think of right now. my brothers and i used to play magic when we weren't playing video games. mario kart on snes was a shitload of fun, and we put hundreds of hours into various iterations of the romance of the three kingdoms games. oh and dr robotnik's mean bean machine was a badass puzzle game we played a lot that i've recently rediscovered thanks to a sega collection i got on xbox360.

but anyway, the fam would play a game mostly every night. i'm looking forward to my kids growing up so i can get back to it because it's something i really miss. though apples to apples is a fun game that's good for kids, i may be picking up the kids version to play until my youngest learns to read. cool thread man
