Cool Nasa projects of late
So i dunno how many of u know but the LCROSS expiriment supposedly succeeded in its intended goals today by smashing into the moon and being observed by another satelite as the first one slammed into the moon to kick up dust and hopefully find stuff we've never seen before there.
the other really cool nasa thing about to happen on oct 27th is the FIRST FLIGHT TEST OF THE NEW ARES ROCKET!!!! anybody who knows me knows im a huge fan of space exploration, and nasa, and of george bush for laying out the Vision for space exploration which has gotten us already probably like half way to the goal of having a brand new state of the art 21st century spaceflight system that can get us to the moon, asteroids, or even eventually mars!!! the Ares I for those who dont know is the crew rocket- its smaller than the Ares V which is gonna be the Saturn V-esque booster to get the larger parts up into space, the ARes I will just carry the astronauts and the command module and the two will dock in space in earth orbit before going to the moon - So on oct 27s they are gonna launch a REAL ARES 1 from CAPE CANAVERAL!!!! its gonna go up and look just like a real launch with people for the first however long, then it will drop back to earth so they can learn about the physics of it and shit and help develop it even more. THE PLAN IS TO LAND MEN ON THE MOON BEFORE JULY 19, 2019 EXACTLY 50 YEARS FROM THE DAY NEIL ARMSTRONG FIRST LANDED ON THE MOON!!!!! now how fucking cool is that shit!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

if they can film a satelite smashing into the moon surface, why cant they film the trash they allegedly left behind on their first alleged trip to the moon?
because its too small to see is the standard answer... okay, why can they read a newspaper over your shoulder from space through the atmosphere but not see several car sized objects through no atmosphere? Been to the moon? Not.

launching missions from the moon is ideal due to having only 1/6 the gravity to deal with

i dunno it seems like if were gonna even go to mars eventually which will be a crazy undertaking that we gotta get some experience with long term living on another "planet" close by before well have any hope of going further...
to go to mars estimates have been like that we gotta have a ship the size of the ISS travelling to mars to be big enough to support the crew and carry everything they need etc... the ISS has taken 20 years to build! so its pretty daunting to get even to mars. alpha centauri ? lol damn, they wouldnt even get back till we're all long gone |

Good to know he could take care of outer space, since he completely fucked up anything down here on Earth.

However, I'd much rather see us explore the fucking ocean more than the fucking moon. Ocean exploration has the potential to at least benefit us. I try to not blindly label you a jackass just because everyone else does...but there seems to be truth in it. Way to go.

dude nasa landed human beings on the moon.
i dont care what u say, thats worth more than all the unemployment benefits in the world i like ocean exploration too, i think we should cut unemployment benefits- and raise nasa AND ocean sciences funding. ive never understoon this nonsense about how nasa and space dont "benefit us", in the first place, they create just as many jobs as f22s or b2s do - and at the end of the day, u dont get shit out of f22s unless were in some big war, and u get new secrets from the universe out of nasa every year. the hubble space telescope, pictures of faraway galaxies, the MARS ROVERS FOR CHRIST SAKE, thats not taking into account the practical things developed from space , like for example velcro , and highly efficient metal alloys and crystal growth techniques etc etc etc. nasa is amazing, how could u not think its tiny 20 billion dollar budget is worth it? nasa should have 4x its budget for what it does for america and american prestige... aig and lehman got 1 trillion dollars, but nasa doesnt deserve a tiny budget to continue its miracles? dont u think that 2 weeks of unemployment benefits vs nasa having funding is not quite seeing the trees for the forest?

That's cool. I really couldn't give a fuck about unemployment because I don't collect it. I don't know where you even got that from. But I think the ocean has so much fucking potential. The earth, actually. There's so much shit to be known about hidden treasures in the rain forests, the ocean, etc.

Velcro wasn't invented for space... In relation to nasa though, I'll give you bonus points if you can identify the major key figure of nasa, who's walking alongside jfk here.
