how do u deal with a really really annoying virus that hides and copys itself etc...

so ive probably had some kind of virus for years , i always run scans and find and delete shit and sometimes when ive done enough it almost seems virus free...but then it always starts again eventually .

i have ad aware, antimalwarebytes, avira anti virus, ad ware, spybot, and a bunch of others and none of them seem to be able to do shit.

avira which i thought was the best took care of it for a while but now it says it found like 7 hidden files in my drivers folder in windows system 32 and it cant delete them and i cant find them....

so are those whats causing the problem? or is it something else? or am i just fucked?

any recommendations of a cure-all program that will fix this shit once and for all?

Try running your av scans in safe mode, most shit hides in folders that are in use from the second you start up so they can't be deleted, spy-bot even offers a scan that will run before windows boots.

if you own the program discs, re-install them. if you downloaded an .exe, just download them again and re-install.

also, for future reference, make yourself back-up discs (burn programs you just downloaded onto cd-r's/dvd-r's) so that way you wont even have to go on the web to download again.

or even better, get yourself a/several flash drives.

ok ive been making some progress and my computer is back to working average well but i still have a question about how to get rid of the worst shit that i cant get rid of.

avira finds 7 files in the window system 32 folder these are like rotxclsaldlldd.dll and otherthings like that and they say "file is hidden" and when u go into the folder u cant find the files and even when u go into there in safe mode as administrator u still cant see the 7 files that are in there , and they are all named similar things.

now i kinda have a feeling that some of them might be left over from before and that the "virusey" parts of the files had already been taken care of (dont ask me why i think this its just a feeling).

but so how to u delete these files that are found by avira but even avira cant do anything to them it just says files have been found but cannot be deleted and are hidden, please send to us for more info.

is there some way to delete them ? can i do that with a dos prompt and if so can u explain the easiest way to do that.

also - does anybody know what the file is that goes thru and checks all your microsoft files to make sure they are intact - i remember using it once before but i cant remember what it was called.

so the main question is how do i delete that hidden shit that it finds in the scan but then it doenst show up even in safe mode- please help!!! anybody know?

search in safe mode for said rotxclsaldlldd.dll

and delete.

be sure to delete any .pf (prefetch files) by the same name.

AVG has a downloadable burnable bootable image, than scans on boot for rootkits etc.

doing internet searches for the files your anti virus software turned up is also good advice, as most trojans and worms require specific removal applications.
