dont you realize the reason we can have a moonbase is because people dont have healthcare?

I'm kind of tired of nasa wasting billions and not really doing a whole lot. They keep blowing shit up by accident (and on purpose). I just think that with all the money they've spent they could have done a lot more by now. I somehow think their real job is to inform their employers (the gov) and not us. We just get trickle down information like "Oh there MAY have been water on mars" or "Eclipse tonight! Get your boxes ready!"

Earth might be our only "gas station" within light years of planets with the ability to support human life. We need to be spending our RESOURCES(not money) wisely. Money is only a form of made up value us humans put on it, but resources on the other hand, is irreplaceable. |

More waste from america.
Actual value of a moon base? Value not in terms of dollars, but in terms of returns of knowledge to the general population? A BIG FAT ZERO... Much wiser choice than supporting the health of the nation...

blah, blah, blah......you're being foolish if you think space exploration isn't worthwhile. The health care debate does not need to spill over into everything.

Guys this is not getting us anywhere closer to having a moon base. The Project Constellation missions won't even be manned until 2014. And the first flight with a purpose other than testing won't happen until 2015. And these dates are IF they're able to stay on schedule. Which NASA is notorious for being unable to do.
Odds are they won't even finish construction on one until the mid to late '30s. However, GH, you're mistaken when you say the base wouldn't be worth the cost/effort in terms of knowledge and whatnot. A base in the 1/6th gravity of the moon would be great for science. The Space Review: Moonbase why Quote:
People say that space exploration needs to be privatized, but really without the government being first to take each major step, odds are we'll stay on the ground for much longer than we need to or could do.
