the evil dead trilogy....which is the best?

in the spirit of october......which one is the best?

evil dead 1: eh, it had a tree rape scene...bout it, lol

evil dead 2: Awesome all the way through! The first appearance of the Chainsaw hand, slapstick comedy with horror that actually worked, Bruce Campbell achieves cult status as the best actor eva.

evil dead 3- army of darkness: Probably some of the best "one liners" in horror history, bigger budget but less gore. why did they ever replace the chainsaw with some robo hand? Great ending sequence "hail to the king baby" *on the american cut at least, not a big fan of the foreign ending of him being lost in time*

I would say Evil dead 2.....one of my fav movies of all times.

yeah I like the second one the best. haven't watched the evil dead movies in years but for some reason I remember the second one more than the others. I just remember the dude that found the necronomicon (sp?), his wife was dead in the cellar and then turned into the undead and all hell broke loose.

i'd say the second as well, followed by the first and then the 3rd. i was dissapointed with the lack of gore and tension. although lines like 'i'll swallow your soul i'll swallow your soul !!!!!" totally make it worthy. sam raimi or whatever can never be forgiven however, for spiderman 3. ... never

nah evil dead 1. ive got mad respect for the fact sam raimi was 19 when he made it, and it was a very origional horror. got some amazing shots in aswell.

I think we can all agree with Ex about the lack of gore in part 3. I have no idea why they toned it down so much!? The movie is still an A grade movie but it could have been an A+ with a lot more good ol blood squibs.

I will agree with Uber that part 1 was done extremely well for the budget and age of the crew. Obviously the raimi bro's and bruce had already showed that they would go on to make huge names for themselves. How ever, i dont think just because the movie showed promise that it stacks up in anyway to the sequels as a film.

Part 1 also had some great gore and man that last act just goes on forever...everybody who sees it for the first time is screaming "Die u fuckers, just die already!"

Now in true yahooka tradition i am gonna take this thread completely off track and just say a few more films that i consider essential horror.

The beyond-by lucio fulci- "u want that good old fashioned itallian gore? look no further"

Suspiria- by dario argento- Trippy as fuck, some of the greatest use of lighting in ALL of film. Plus, the opening murder scene is prob one of the kewlest i have seen. The music is, well.......strange as fuck but works well for some reason.

Cannibal Holocaust- by Ruggero Deodato- Although i found the actual killing of animals on screen pretty fuckin weak...the wrest of the movie is quite brilliant. We all know that the blair witch fuckin ripped off this movie hardcore and got all the credit for doing the whole "shaky cam" "lost footage". Also a fun fact is that the soundtrack of this film is one of highest selling cds ever in japan.

Rubbers Lover- by Shozin Fukui- although its not a horror movie per say it certainly made me feel dirty for a good day or two after i watched it and i would say its the "craziest" movie i have ever seen.....so far at least heh. Its in the style of "tetsuo body hammer" and "tetsuo the iron man" but with even more just scary twisted fetish type shit.

anybody else have any other more obscure films that totally rock? none of this saw part 23 or hostel shit *those two films do carry on the grand american tradition of completely ripping off films made way earlier in other countries which is easy to do sense americans dont like to read subtitles and refuse to see foreign films in general*

dude evil dead is the bomb. oh yeah.

and i enjoy the first one, cause i just notice little shit each time i watch it that makes me laugh. for example, in the beginning you can come to the conclusion that they were driving in Ash's car, but he was letting the blonde dude drive with a jar of moonshine in his hand, as Ash himself was in the back seat not drinking. And all of Ash's over acting was just straight awesome. That fucking scene with the shelf, man. And there are parts where I still jump.

2 Was like wheres the going!? WHOA, CHAINSAW FUCKING TIME!!!

And Army of Darkness is all Hail to the king, baby.

Gotta watch all 3 before halloween so i can prepare my costume, one liners and all.

u know, the extras are really good (the commentaries are great, for example bruce talks about how in the first evil dead they had a scene ware they all smoked a joint...so they decided to smoke a joint for real and just shoot the scene....but they got to fuckin baked and forgot all their lines lol)

but....... its the same extras that were on all the collectors editions of the dvds.

So if u have the collectors edition on dvds....no new extras on the bluerays

ahahaha man that movie is funny, i thought i was the only one who liked it...they made 3 of those fuckin things if u can believe it. i picked up the trilogy for 10 bux last winter and still only managed to have watched the first one.

I really liked it as a kid though....and i also have a comic version of it.

THe comic was kewl cause the new bad guy in it had his fingers chopped off by the original bad guy in the movie...and instead of fingers....he had like gun barrels and he would give people the finger and shoot them at the same time lol

man your just on fire in this thread ex...i have agreed with every thing u have said so far....maybe the world really is ending soon

Also....i dunno if u have watched "drag me to hell" yet but its....bad.....its real bad.
------------------------------------------------------------------

speaking of good ol bruce has anybody seen bubba ho-tep? I thought it was pretty dang funny. Bruce as a fat elderly elvis battling a ancient mummy with Ozzy Davis (who thinks he is jfk) in a nursing home is a pretty awesome concept. Plus Bruce/Elvis has cancer on his dick in the film......mmmmm...ca ncer dick
