Something that makes it hard to talk to most people about college and prospective jobs is how different what i want out of life is from most people around me. They're all concerned about graduating, getting a high paying job, getting married, buying their dream house, having kids, etc. Although those things are nice, other than graduating, i don't want any of that in my lifetime as of right now. I'd rather develop some inner peace and grow as a person, rather than complicate my life with all those other things when I don't even have myself figured out yet.
Just get your liberal arts degree and then worry about what you want to do. Most companies, individuals, whatever, just want someone educated.

Its not that bad, sure you wasted a lot of your parents money (in my case, it was my parents), they'll be pissed off at you for a while, but its better to drop out then do something you dispise for the rest of your life.

One day 30 years will have passed and you'll be wishing you could relive your college days. Life will really bite you in the ass soon enough so enjoy the lifestyle that college affords.

What if he wants to work in a specialized field? You can't just go be a park ranger or a school teacher with just a Liberal Arts Degree.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea to go for a LA degree, but the stupid part about college is that you're supposed to know what you want to do for the remainder of your life and go to school for that.

I dunno. I fucking hate college. I'm going to a community college for LA and it sucks royal balls. I was in Engineering but my adviser kind of fucked me over. I went to a tech school so I didn't have the most advanced math courses and I ended up in "Pre-engineering", which is supposed to be a preparatory course for Engineering. The suck part is that after a year and a half of taking courses I absolutely hated, I was told I would have to spend another 2 years getting a real Engineering degree.

Dude...you're in a damn lucky situation...my parents died in my last year of high school so i had to get a job and pay my way thru school

im taking a break from school at the moment because of lack of funds but as soon as i save up enough money i'll be returning to school, and working while attending

.....i never felt sorry for the students in my class that got bad grades and spent more time partying then doing homework while spending mommy and daddys money on beer every night....it seemed like the older students with families or those who were paying their way thru school took it more seriously....

maybe you should tell your parents you aren't happy with what you are taking, maybe you should quit school for a year and work until you can figure out what it is you want to do with life, or maybe you should switch to some other subject you enjoy

i dont know what to tell you except that sometimes we need to go thru a bunch of crappy things to figure out what we DONT want with our life

i dunno, if i could afford it i'd stay in school forever, college is fun and i love learning.
