magic hat rocks, they give away tickets to the gathering of the vibes and one of their caps says 'if Jerry were here we'd buy him a beer' plus I have like 5 of their shirts and the Hi.p.a. design is one of my favourite pieces of corporate art ever.

Damn straight. The only decent beer in the U.S. are microbrews. As long as England has Newcastle, we're fucked.

the thing is that many american beers including budweiser are now owned by europeans so we live in a post-this-question world.

I love Magic Hat beers. Some more than other. When I went on my honeymoon in Vermont toured the brewery and drank a lot. Otter Creek/Wolaver's is another good VT brewery. Is sweet. Their organic IPA is floral and coppery.

Spoiler Alert: Magic Hat now has a triple bag on draft at their brewery and will be releasing it.

actually, american craft brews-- especially pale ales-- are amongst the best in the world. european trappists, especially from around the north sea [netherlands, belgium, northern france] are effing amazing. stouts, porters and ales from the UK are some of the best. and weisses and strong ales and stuff from throughout europe but especially germany, belgium, vienna, netherlands etc are great.

american craft brews cover the gamut, emulating these styles and often times improving upon them.

and now world-wide, brewers aspire to the greatness of the American IPA, especially hoppy west-coasters.

there's great beer from everywhere in the world though. definitely great stuff all over canada, but great stuff in the US as well, great stuff all over europe.

Stone! Since Stone is American, that makes the best beers American, at least for their hoppy beers.

that really is a tough question, at first I picked Europe but then I started to remember some American brews that are absolutely sensational..

but some of my favorite are:

my absolute favorite ale, you Scottish bastards got it right on this one

probably my favorite IPA

probably my favorite lager

and last but not least my favorite from the Boston Brewing Company, winter seasonal ale

edit- the only ale in the trappist style I have tried was the Ommegang, which is actually an American ale styled after the Belgian abbey ales..

Honestly, I was disappointed, didn't like a single thing about it. maybe the real trappist ales are better but I would not buy this stuff ever again.
