Some incense are decent. As a general rule of thumb, besides the champa, I don't buy pre-boxed incense. Go to a store and pick my own. Get really nice mellow vanilla cherry ones, etc etc. Much nicer, I find.
But I haven't burned any in quite some time. More a fan of candles. Specially since when you make your own, you can pick your scents. I've been doin up cedar with other scents a lot lately. Mmm god, cedar.

nag champa def is the shit. I like the rope incense too, its called Lumbini incense i think. I would never burn 12 sticks at once though, thats like settin a fire in ur room then inhaling lol. Although it is fun to eventually open that door after burning a long fatty with like 5 hours of incense burning on top of that and getting that big smoke cloud that funnels out to the other rooms

there is this nice lil head shop in the ville that sells a variety of Incense. you can pick your own for like 10 for 1.50$ and they have some really good stuff. i'd say around 45 different kinds. they also have the pre-packaged incense but the only kind i'd buy pre-packaged is superhit and that stuff smells good. i like burning incense, just depends on the odor it eminates.

Satya Sai Baba's Nag Champa is the one. If you like woodsy-type scents, check out Juniper Ridge. Their incense is all-natural, as is Payne's, both available online. BTW-anyone know of a good Clary Sage incense? An infuser might be something to consider. Last edited by hijabihippie; 11-23-2009 at 09:38 AM. |

Incense can be hit or miss. I can't stand a stong aroma, either. Luckily, I've recently found a vanilla scent that's just right. However, I'd never burn them every night or every time I smoke.

I like it when that happens. Wonder what the inside of those people's heads look like?

I pretty much have nag champa burning in my house constantly and I like it that way. Switched over to super hit for a while(same maker), but had to go back to the classic.

Ylang ylang is probably more tolerable than patchoulli...
Years ago I came across a brand called "Shiv Shankar" and it smelled similar to Nag Champa but slightly different, it quickly became my 'favorite incense'

Always look for an excuse to post Pundit Shankar.
Here is one from 67 two years before woodstock.

I had the great good fortune to see Ravi Shankar, when I was 10.
If you like Shankar, check out Chivkumar Charma. Charma is to the santoor (Indian hammered dulcimer) as Shankar is to the sitar. Shankar's tablas player Alla Rakha, had a son, Zakir Hussein who also plays tablas. Hussein plays tablas with Charma. They are also proof of the existence of God. Japanese incense, such as Shoyeido,
and Tibetan incense are nice. They're not as "heavy" as the Indian incenses seem to be. Payne's of Maine makes nice, all natural incense in cedar, pinon pine and balsam fir. |

"A Hippie's armpit'"
Indeed! Yet, because of positive associations in my youth I like it. I must have been about 14 when I had an early sexual episode involving a roll in the hay with a 29ish year-old hippie lady, hairy, unwashed (but not unclean) and beautiful. Her long dark hair smelling of incense and cannabis. It is one of the most cherished episodes of my youth. "A Hippie's armpit'" Indeed!
