i realize its cheap but as i recal there are drawbacks, u cant call people on regular or cell phones right?

and u have to have an internet connection.

so 911 wont work unless the power is on first of all.

the setbacks are pretty small considering how cheap it is but actually im pretty sure if your really tech savy u can make free internet phone calls without a magic jack - any techies feel free to correct me as appropriate

If magic jack worked as well as they claimed, major telecommunication companies would have sued the crap out of them for the patent rights, and cease production so they can pigeon hole us into paying more for phone service.

well when I told my friendly local telemarketer that I was going to get a magic jack instead of adding long distance service to my phone plan I about shit when he said "well yes that is a good deal"
