over 50% of americans say they couldnt come up with $2k in 30 days
if they needed it for an emergency.
i mean seriously? ur telling me these people couldnt sell some shit they own or something? im pretty sure that most people if the desperately needed 2k to save their lives have at the very least 2k worth of possesions they could sell at the pawn shop if not a job they could save 2k out of in 30 days time. hence, a poll is in order. |

Not unless I got it from relatives... even if I sold my expensive stuff like this computer. I mean maybe if I sold a tonne of stuff, but it would be hard to move it all in 30 days and it would have to be a serious need.

I think that when it comes down to it and people need that 2k to live they'll come up with it some how. This poll likely reflects people's belief that they can't, rather than what would actually transpire. Where did this number of 2000 come from? Did they pick some high number so people could flip shit and they'd get a nice head line or is there some reality to this number? Elucidate Juan, por favour SageTree

im not exactly sure why sage i think it was to show how paycheck to paycheck most americans are and how a car repair or medical expense would fuck a lot of people who dont plan ahead for that shit and couldnt get2k quickly if they needed it.
i figured yahooka would be slightly higher than the average, lots of kids with parents etc lots of computer savy people, im not surprised we dont have the "average" breakdown in here. |

Well, then I'll stick my neck out here and say I'm a trades person and stay at home in the off season and my wife is a student with a part time job and we have money in the bank. There is something to be said for our health care costs though and we sold our car in 06 and don't have that cost either. As a side not in the States we payed $400 dollars a month for our health care and up here we pay $200 for 3 three months. Once we are citizens it's way way cheaper. Both of those figures are for us two combined. That also means 'disaster' in a medical sense doesn't exist outside of major treatments of cancer etc...
On that note I'd like to poke with that stick, into the problem in the States. One less thing to stress about and add to our quality of life. This figure is unfortunate.

The quality of the individual is not reliant on how much money one can pool together in times of crises but how you act in the worst of times...I personally could come up with enough funds to take care of those that i love and that would need the help...As could each of the people that I could do that for would do it for me...

if you really think about it
if we're all really piss shit scared for our lives whatever amount of money we need to come up with, we'd do it. i think that goes for everyone. as long as somebody is in an extreme amount of fear, they'll do anything. and they'll start thinking outside the box in like 30 seconds.
