suppose you bring food, chaser beverages (juice, soda, etc), bud or other goods to share with others, to a party listed as BYOB. in this case why would it matter if you didn't also have beer? obviously this is not freeloading behavior.

i think his issue is that socially it's implied when invited to a party you are socially obligated in a sense to byos (s=shit/something) it isn't explicitly beer.
he has an issue of the host making a thing of it by going out of the way and saying BYOB. maybe im way off but that's what i think is transpiring here.

nah, you're right and i agree.
my general formula: party is being held by someone you don't know/don't know well : try and bring something as a kind gesture. party is being held by good friend or someone fairly close: if you don't have money for it, have their back on it the next time you get the funds. they won't care if they're not an asshole.

I rarely bring much booze places, and if I do it's like heady bombers for myself. I do try to have SOMETHING to share though. Sharing makes everything bettah.

Stop being a moocher Bearsy...
With that said, I think it's common courtesy/sense to bring somme booze to the party especially if you're gonna be doing some drinking yourself. What are you guys? Animals?
