What is up with this BYOB bullshit?

How can you say you're having a party if you're not supplying any form of social lubricant?

You should say you have a place that people can come have a party at.

Lame

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

lol what are you expecting, an open bar?

when everyone chips in a little bit the party goes a lot farther. only time I expect booze to be provided is when there is a keg and even then I expect to pay a buck or two for a cup.

Its people's way of nicely saying, "If you are a mooch, I don't want you up in my house in my fridge, stealing my shit"...

Do as you should and bring 2 decent 6 packs/bottle, one for yourself and one for the host (even if you don't know them on a personal level), and you won't ever have to bother with beer or any other problems that may arise...

Another problem arises when considering liability...If you are housing a party and supplying the alcohol you face much harsher penalties than if you were just a host not supplying...That is worst case scenario thinking of course...

No I'm not saying I won't bring something, when I go to a party, I've always got a six pack or more with me.

I'm saying the host can't have nothing to supply.
This dude's inviting mad people to his party claiming it's gonna be some crazy, unforgettable shindig, but then I hear from him that he's not gonna have anything, not even cups for pong. That's just lame.

I'll revert you back to the old adage...

"My house, my rules, you don't like it, get the fuck out..."

If I have a party, I expect to get drunk for free, it's a fair price for sacrificing my house to a bunch of primates for the night, and having to clean up the war zone the next morning, hungover....

word, if i was having a party i wouldnt pay for everyones drink.
it costs an individual a few quid to get some booze but it would cost a host a shitload to buy everyone booze for the privelige of getting your house trashed

These are hard times we live in, my friend, and booze ain't cheap. Neither is pizza, so we like to pitch in for food, too. It's just a part of being a friend, IMO.

The party is only as great as the people who attend, no one ever remembers the host, your good time should always be dependent on one person, you...

You my friend are caught up "in the bullshit"...

I guess you guys are right, I must be spoiled cause I've only been to parties where there was something extra supplied by the host(s).

If I'm throwing a party I'll supply an ample amount of food and freedom. But no booze.

all the parties we had in highschool, there was always at least a limited amount of booz provided by the host. but everyone knew to bring their own shit or they wouldn't be able to catch a buzz. you would get like one beer free which is the worst. our high school was pretty awesome though, everyone shared everything at parties (well as much as could be shared)
