poker anyone

ive been playing 2c/5c a lot lately, reading the literature, trying to get a system going.. my plan is to turn $10 into $10 000 playing online at FTP. so far im down $300 due to doing stupid shit like playing for my entire roll while piss drunk and going all-in on the first hand of a tournament with nothing while piss drunk and trying to play unfamiliar games like omaha/7card stud while piss drunk and then redepositing and playing some more. anyways i think im starting to climb out the hole now, i had $25 on my account a couple weeks ago now i have $55 just from playing 2c/5c no limit and $1 sng's and trying to stick to a general longterm gameplan.

anyone else play?

note to self, when learning how to play poker, don't gamble while piss drunk. gotcha

i want to learn how to play, i tried it once but it was confusing as hell when there s six guys and gals telling you what the best play is without knowing why or wtf to do next round

i guess its all about having a general strategy at first, and then as you play more and more you refine it to more specific situations. read as many poker books as you can and see what works for you.

if you are just learning now, don't bother with no limit hold em' cash games. the game has pretty much dried up and there are very few fish like there were a few years ago. if you play even .10/.25 nl you are going to run into ALOT of good aggressive regulars who are going to take your money (or the rake will).

the game of the future is pot limit omaha. learn it, love it, it is THE game for action junkies (and therefore drunken fish). the only downside is the insane variance which requires you to have a massive bankroll to be able to play it properly. i am horrible at bankroll management so i always go broke eventually.

played again last night, 1c/2c no limit, deep stack table full of fish. these guys would call every single bet everytime so i just waited for some good hands and dominated the shit out of everyone. left the table with $15 having bought in with $4. it was a surreal experience, these guys werent even trying to put up any resistance, yet kept rebuying. especially one guy that was at the table for the four hours i played, never won a hand yet kept rebuying over and over. if only the higher stakes were this easy

You play full tilt right parallax? How are you getting your money into their account? Damn thing seems like a scam. I've been playing for free and I do alright, but I wanna make some money. But it always says 'credit cards not working' and recommends entropay, some bullshit service that takes a percentage off all your deposits and withdraws.

wouldn't the popularity of no limit holdem mean that there is more fish to take advantage of? whereas games that aren't as popular, like omaha and 7card stud, would have a higher shark to fish ratio.

i used my visa to make a deposit and it went through just fine, just takes a couple minutes when you deposit for the first time, after that its almost instant. its not a scam btw fulltilt is a major poker site, most of the poker books i read mentioned full tilt, a lot of pros started out there/play regularly. they make enough off the rake and tourney fees that it would be in their best interests to be super legit so as to attract customers. i suppose if you have a friend that plays there you can give him cash and have him transfer some funds from his ftp account to yours that way your own cc isnt used

thats a bad way of thinking about it: freerolls are freerolls, people play differently for money than they do for free. to play for the $20 you would need to be in a 10c/25c table or a deep stack 5c/10c table, and you would be playing with your whole roll against fairly tough competition. even if you play perfectly some asshole could river you out of all money. if you play for lower stakes you're up against weaker opponents and you aren't risking your whole roll on one table so that if you play reasonably well you might lose your buyin for that table due to bad luck, but you will have plenty to fall back on and make it back in the longterm. most poker books i read suggest that you have at least ten to twenty times the maximum buyin for the stakes you wish to play to account for the swings.

played 25c/50c with my friends from work last night. bought in with thirty bucks, left with a hundred fifty. one guy lost sixty bucks and quit, a couple more lost about thirty and quit, everyone else lost half or more of their stack before they quit. this was the highest stakes i played and the most ive ever won in a single session.

i wouldnt put it past those companies to have the computer do that to to make people feel like they are winning and really they are just getting gently shoved into higher stakes games with the false sense of security beating a computer gave em(thinking it was an average player and there will be alot of them to take money from if you go up a table)
