Selling a used car

So after I put up an ad on craigslist for my '94 Geo Prizm, and stupidly slapping my email on the ad, allowing dozens of spammers to inundate me, a 20 something guy calls me up. He asks this and that about the car and tells me where he lives, about 5 or 6 miles away.

I thought he wanted directions to get to my place so i give him my address.

*PAUSE*

Me: "So you want me to drive it there?"
Subject: "My car got totaled."
Me: Well, (this is a lie), "I can't come out there today, maybe tomorrow."
Subject: /hangs up phone

Am I a fool for not sucking up to him? Is it too hard to find a friend, family member, taxi, or bike, to come look for yourself?
