Is it abnormal to never cough when smoking?

Some people i know and smoke with are holding it for like 10-15 seconds and making all these weird noises when they hold it in. Followed by a hacking fit.

I just don't see the point, i just take a big hit and hold it for three to five seconds; be camping on the bowl, tellin stories and shit....! damn its annoying, i just want to smoke and not hear all this drama.

that's exactly how i've always felt. sometiems i hiccup when im blowing out a big hit but i never want to start coughing, if i do its usually as small as possible.

I never cough, its because of the lack of cigs in my diet. Unless its stale or really really good weed.

On a seperate note.

Passing around a bowl sucks, who wants to smoke someone elses burnt weed?

when i took a fat ass hit of keef or some really good hash i get the burning feeling in my throat like i want to cough but i've mastered the art of breathing through my nose and then the feeling goes away

You absorb pretty much all the THC you're going to absorb in the first few seconds of being in your lungs. Holding it in for any longer is giving you a negligible amount of extra thc, and plenty more tar.

But also if you feel you absolutely need to cough you shouldn't resist the urge. Coughing loosens up the deposits in your lungs and makes it easier for them to clean em out.

I don't usually start coughing until a couple hours after smoking. Then when i smoke again it goes away.
