^ The Channel Tunnel is a rail only transport tunnel, you can pop your car up on a special vehicle transport train though but you can't drive a car through the tunnel.

Sounds like mass-pandemonium if you get a mental picture of that scenario.

You drive onto at train which takes you through the tunnel then you drive off at the other end, I guess it switches sides en route.
There are massive signs in both english and french telling you which side of the road to drive on

Last time I went over there and my english friend was driving - he frequently forgot- I'm screaming

"DRIVE ON THE FUCKING RIGHT!! as french lorry drivers slam on their brakes.

Whoever cannot get used to drive on the opposite side of the road in a matter of hours probably doesn't even deserve the licence. The much harder part of the changeover is getting used to change gears with the "other" hand.

I kept smashing my right hand against the door constantly looking for the gearstick...

Yeah I've got to agree having been stuck in that car for a few thousand miles. Worst was he kept for forgetting to check his blind side on the left on the auto route/bhan.
Apart from the risk of death and mayhem it's embarrassing.

Oh...OK...I didn't realize it was a train tunnel exclusively. Thanks for the info.

I was 1/2 kidding about the 2 cops on either side of the tunnel screaming at motorists, "Move to the other side!! WATCH OUT!! You're about to be French toast!!"

Just want to clear-up a couple things....I've got nothing against the French or any nationality for that matter. Just repeating what I used to hear all the time from my dad.
The Japanese & the French weren't the most popular people with the WW2 crowd & my dad used to belly-ache about them constantly. I guess it's just a matter of what era you've lived thru. I know my pals, who served in Viet Nam, still to this day don't trust them & don't like them. I guess when you see buddies getting killed by a certain race of people, it sticks with you until death.
Me? I dig everyone...except the Moral Majority!!

He's talking about NC...& he's pretty much right.

In the Blue Ridge Mtns, they've got a lot of those 'snake-handling' & drinking strychnine lunacy religions. Those people think that if someone's a true-believer in Jesus Christ, that J.C. will protect the person from a venomous snake-bite & drinking poison.
VERY weird people up in them thar hills!!
