BHO & PVC

So I'm covered on everything but the vessel, can't find glass, stainless is exfuckingspensive.

Use PVC, schedule 40? I don't think we need to worry about it bursting from the pressure in the can, more wondering if it'll shed nasty stuff when the gas hits it...

You know what I wanna do, if you don't please find another thread to post in, I'm just looking for some knowledge.

We're not doing huge runs and if we trash it after a few times that's fine as well.

Plastic covers a pretty broad spectrum of compounds, sure wouldn't mind knowing exactly what kind of plastic the honey bee is made of though.

BHT is a non polar molecule, you should be fine as it doesn't fit molecularly with plastic. Meaning it in ineffective as a plastic solvent.

Okay...

Forgive my squirrelly ignorance but, what is BHT?

Disclaimer: I am not an organic chemistry major nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

BHT is the same as Butane? Methinks no but until we do have the say so of an organic chemist...

Im no organic chemist but if I remember correctly is for Butane, Hexane, and another solvent starting with a "T".

I dunno why I said BHT, I meant BHO which is Butane hash oil. However, one can use hexane as the solvent also, as both butane and hexane are non polar solvents. No comment on using toluene, dunno where to get that stuff anyways.

Any time I've seen a BHO extraction, they used a soda bottle with a hole in the cap and on the bottom. Seems simple enough.

Made a trip to the thrift store and found three Pyrex oil candles for $3.99.

Since I happen to have access to a dental lab, we were able to drill a small hole in two of the cylinders, the 14 inch one and the eight inch one. We used the 14 inch one earlier and it worked quite well, going to try the short one tomorrow, need butane.

w00t.

Don't use PVC with butane. Chemical resistance to butane is only rated for PVC types I-II, anything other comes off as "Do Not Recommend", according to a company that produces plastic piping for the petrochemical industry.

Takes the cold well.
