I saw this a few days ago.

of course, people who do believe in God who get Cancer get it for "mysterious" reasons...

I am not going to put false reasoning behind his diagnosis, but I do hope he gets better. I disagree with him, but pain and suffering isnt what I wish for anyone.

I've liked Hitch's antics for years. He was on Larry King or something one time, drunk off his ass and sipping a cocktail. Gotta respect that.

Even tho it doesn't sound good for him, I think he'll fight the good fight. To me the most poignant thing was when he said something to the effect that life was a race and he was suddenly a finalist.

I'm not sure that's really accurate, if I'm understanding what you're saying. I don't think there are many believers who think they're immune from the slings and arrows of living.

It's not that a lot of religious people think they are immune from the slings and arrows of living...just that the reason WHY certain arrows hit certain people are fabricated and used to support their belief structures (even while actively ignoring contrarian evidence). In this case: religious people and non religious people get cancer. But Hitchens...because of his beliefs...OBVIOUSLY got Cancer as a punishment from God. Cute little 5 year old Timmy in the next room? God moves in mysterious ways

just pointing out the irrationality of people (well, SOME people obviously).
