I was guessin he's a mix of (maybe) red nose pit and american bull dog, but I don't know much about breeds

And his stomach is super bloated, the guy who gave him to me siad its worms and they fed him horse wormer the day before and said his stomach has gotten smaller so it should be working. But in case I have to invest in more, whats some good kind? I've never shopped for this kinda stuff, my first dog

you really shouldn't give him any more "horse dewormer". if you can take him to a vet...i know vets around here hold cheaper sort of clinics every other weekend or something. i'd say get him some worm meds for dogs and puppies, but i don't know what that'd do if anything bad with the horse dewormer someone probably shouldn't have given him. also, heart worms can kill a dog and it's bad. please try and get him a check up.

Thanks ASG, a vet's out the question for a while due to finances.
But I definitely wouldn't have given him horse wormer that was the previous guy

not trying to talk down or offend you, but perhaps if finances are an issue you shouldnt be aqcuiring a brand new monthly cost in the form of a puppy

I can afford dog food and wormer
Just the sound of going to a vet sounds expensive, although I have no idea

I'm not sure that horse worm meds would hurt a dog, as long as you dose by the pound.

I used to get dog stuff (including wormer) at Feeder's Supply, if you have one. They sold them by the pill. Very cheap.

You need to know how much your puppy weighs to dose it properly. You also need to worm the little guy twice to make sure you get all the nasties. Just read the directions on the box.

ASG is right about heart worms. You really should get the vet to give him a check up. I like that idea of weekend vet clinics.

Before you become too attached, you gotta know....there's more to it than food. Dogs get fleas and you will have to deal with that, and a host of other things.

Having said all that, I'll now say....

Your dog is sooooo cute. What's his name?

If you cant afford to take the dog to the vet, you cant have a dog... how old are you... how often do/can you walk the dog?

Its a puppy guys, not a baby. If yo. has anything close to a P/T job, he has enough money to own a dog.

Thanks everybody, I can tell his stomach got a little bit smaller over night so maybe it's working.. I definitely plan to get more, and actual puppy dewormer at Wally world though.. And eventually a vet cause he's also got little yellow scab looking things in random spots. There quite small and yellowish with no common shape
Any one know what that could be?

Or maybe just scabs? I'm no vet either. Hey yo., call around to some local vets, see about how much an exam(?) costs. She's gonna need a rabies vaccination at least, and heart/round worm treatment as a precaution. I'm willing to bet its a good bit less expensive than a doctor, so it is likely within your budget. The pup will be happier and healthier for it.

It is a baby... maybe not a human baby... a puppy takes hours out of your day. You have to walk/runs with a puppy especial a boxer or pit mix they have alot of energy and its not far not keep them pent up.
please really think about this before you get too attached

I was talking in terms of cost. Puppies are nowhere near as difficult or as expensive as human children. I'm sure yo. knows what hes doing.

you gota weigh out the concequences.

If there's TRUELY noone who will take the dog, then yea, anything is better than the dog dying on the street, but dogs cost waaaaaay more than just food. But if theres any chance you can find a stable, more capeable home, it'd be for the best.

Puppy deserves healthy dog food (not corn husk and "animal" by-product), vet visits with shots, neuter, etc. Especially if it's going to be around other dogs, it's just part of being a responsable dog owner.

what happens if he gets hit by a car, an infection, bit by another dog. god forbid.
I know first hand, actually taking good care of a dog is super expensive.
I'm luky enough to have a crazy grandma who has a soft spot for all animals who can help in desperate times.

You'll end up doing whatevers best im sure, were all sensible people here
