Moving in October

Hey Folks Over There!!

I'm coming!!!

Tap the keg and light the herbs!!!

My Wife got a job there, which I won't describe openly in detail, doing research. The contract and benefits are really good. This was part of a 50/50 job chase that could have taken us anywhere up here. We looked east to be closer to family for a while, see how that goes, get a little more involved since we're only a short distance by any mode of transport. I'm excited to be back into a city for a while... I think... and am looking forward to the plethora of spiritual centres that are available there from a multitude of faith traditions.

See you on the other side... sort... close enough.... soon enough.

Cheers.

Make sure you check out the "Hot Box" is a smoke friendly place with a variety of coffee's and teas as well as a wine and liquor bar. Also more of a locals spot than a tourist trap to the prices are good and the people are pretty chill.

Prices are good you say? Like I can get it on premise?

What's the 'scene' like for herbs in the city?

The shop doesnt sell it but theres people sitting there with their bags out smoking. Your ability to get a bag is directly related to your ability to make a friend. Unless youre acting a fool you'll have a hook-up your 1st night there.

The cops are pretty chill, most people dont seem to have an issue smoking in the parks and what not they just hide the joint if any police roll by. Everyone says the cops are really relaxed, just dont put it in their face and create a situation where they'd look bad for not arresting you and you wont have a problem. If youre out looking for papers you need to ask for them, theres some canadian legislation that prohibits the advertisement of cigarettes or other smoking sundries, so your papers are behind the counter.

Right on, so it doesn't sound so different than the time I spend at the New Amsterdam or while living in Vancouver. Thanks Buddy.

It's a one year contract, but it's at a University, and that is how funding/contracts usually role.

Good words folks thanks!!!

If there is still a vacancy in our apartment building when we move back

I think your alluding to the cabin where I worked at the B&B? I imagine that will be an open door for myself and friends if they'd ever want to travel in northern BC.

You live there?

I have only ever been in TO for 2-3 days and people there are pretty nice, not really getting a different wrap from any city I've ever been in really.

I'm feeling that some day I'll be back this way no doubt. The west is something special to behold, especially up here, I feel. Some time living close to family will be nice for now though, and anyone is always welcome to come there to visit with us as well.

Northern Ontario has some unmistakable wilderness of it's own, much of which is speckled with lake after lake.

Haha.... I can't wait to have a beer with that cat, and I'm sure I will.

Speaking of that, Komp. My Wife has friends in Chicago and it just got a whole hell of a lot closer to us. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the positive vibrations!

when i am in toronto i feel like i am in america. as silly as it might sound to people in north america, the cultural differences between west/east are pretty big. i have more in common with people in idaho/montana/bc/washington/alberta than ontario. also i tend to favour quebec because i speak french and their political history is badass. quebecs politics are always counter to ontarios, and in a way that is similar to the praries feel underrepresented in parliament. ontario is the place with the densest population and for that reason it has the most political influence.

toronto is not actually that bad of a place. the weather is decent and the population is diverse. you can find some of the best ethnic foods from all over the world in toronto and there is usually lots of stuff going on.

That is about what I've taken in during my Canadian experience. And I totally relate to the feeling your talking about with the west of Canada. I figure it'll be a cool taste of that and to find out for myself where I really want to be. Next up the far east or far north back west, who knows? But I am not going too far south of TO to live again if I can help it. That's for dang sure.

PS.... ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN LIVE ??!!?!?!!

A lot of the people I met while I was there were from Mississauga <sp?> Its a suburb about 20 minutes outside the city with very affordable housing compared to living in Toronto proper. Their Mass transit run back and forth as well so no need to drive in and go through the soul crushing experience of finding parking downtown.
