A prof said today that as lame as it sounds, dealing with students is officially the most exciting part of his job. Between paperwork research and moving to a new lab he doesn't really have much time to interact with people. He actually wants to waste 30 mins to answer a question.

Really well---the kids have an amazing energy about them and my colleagues have been very welcoming. Ask me again how I feel when I start up task force meetings and advising and I may have a different opinion though-but for now I like where this ship is heading.

^ I would say the bulk of my students are between 18-20, but it's a community college so you have people older than that as well-which is great in terms of having a diverse discussion.

I remember having a prof. who was scared of me because I was old enough to be his mama, & knew what I was doing.

I went to a community college in the wake of the closing of a local chocolate factory.

The non trads were a lot of fun. Sometimes they'd get into arguments with the professors.
