Owner of Segway, Inc rides a Segway off a cliff to his death.

Segway Inc. owner rides over cliff to his death -- Engadget
Quote:
UK businessman Jimi Heselden, the man who believed in the Segway so much that he went ahead and bought the company, has died after reportedly driving a ruggedized version of the scooter off a cliff and into a river. He was found early on Sunday morning in the River Wharfe, having earlier been touring his estate in the personal transporter.
RIP, but seriously

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

these types of events really mess with my brain.

First I'm like "BWAAAHAHAHA" then I'm like "fuck, I'm an asshole...some poor guy and father just died." Then I try to rationalize it by admitting the scenario is fucking hilarious but still death and suffering is not.

In the end, I have a moment of laughter and then damage done to my sense of self and empathy.

Seriously though...how hilarious is this death?

Well, we're all going to die anyway, so the tragedy is there either way. The thing is, you can die without lulz, or you can die with lulz. If you die WITH lulz, it's pretty much the responsibility of all living people to get a good laugh out of it, because (to paraphrase Monty Python) the last laugh is going to be on them.

So, despair not kind and gentle JcP. To laugh is always a good thing (as long as it isn't in someone's face).

Irony exists in the owner meeting his demise by the goods his company produces.

^if you're saying that the inventor of the Segway should have killed himself, this wasn't him. this dude recently bought the company, but isn't the original creator or owner.

The Segway idea was interesting but I never heard it touted as "world changing". Dont they have gyroscopes in them or something?

Anyways, the guy riding off a cliff on a ruggedized version, that was bound to happen on a machine that goes when you lean forward. I had to lol at the idea of an offroad Seg.

Ya know I never did understand why everyone made a big deal about the gyroscopes, as they have been using very high tech gyroscopes in the film and machine gun biz for years. Plus I can't imagine how many other applications they have that I don't know of.

I just think gyros are cool. I had a small, handheld one. However, I never figured out any other use except to keep things stable and horizontaly oriented.

Well, from my knowledge, that's what they are primarily used for.
