ive learned over the years if you call your cell/cable/(in this case sattelite radio) company

and just tell them you can't afford it and want to cancel your package () they'll lower your rate

I just download any show and listen to it in my car on my iPod, all Howard Stern. I listen to Ferrel on the internet as my fiend gave me her password s she only uses it during the day at work so at night she said I can use it anytime.

I would pay, but I only listen to Howard and Ferrel and can get both for free. And I stream it from my computer to my home theater in the living room. So, it works nice.

My father in law and one of my buddies did that. All they did was tell them to cancel the service because they couldn't afford it, and voila, good deal.

My brother was offered like three different lower rates after he said no. But they haven't called yet. Maybe I'll call them.

they called me once a week for 3 months offering me lower and lower rates. i finally had to demand a supervisor and demand to have all my information deleted from their call lists. decent service but i had it installed in my old car and dont have an antennae anymore. plus they charge extra 3 bucks or something a month to listen online. wtf is that shit. online should be way cheaper then the car version.

When I was a cable subscriber I would call every four to six months and say..

"The guys from (insert competitor name here) were by and said they could give me X for Y, I was watching the TV yesterday and you said if I were a new customer I could get Z for free for a long time. I'm already plugged in but got plenty of time to have the guys out and hook me up with some new stuff. We all know what fun new stuff is yeah? Anyway, what can you do to keep me sending you my money and not them?"

I've had premium packages for free for years at a time, gotten new customer rates for longer than the new customers have.

Alas, I dumped Charter for FiOS because the customer service guy wouldn't blink when it came time for my quarterly 'whatcha gonna do for me?' call. Not surprising since FiOS came to town they were losing customers in the triple digits weekly.

I got a killer deal with Verizon though, based on what I had been scamming off Charter for years.

Never know until you just ask, what's the worst they can say, no?
