I don't have a TV, I heard the news they were out, I thought it was beautiful.

If they are on Oprah, I'll never know about it.

i was just arguing with my mom about this, i think its dumb that this gets so much attention. yah its awesome that these men got saved, but they do that for a living, they had to have known the risk. imagine if poverty and famine got the same type of up to the minute coverage!

they had lawyers and pr specialists visit them before they got out so they could make sure they could make enough money off of it and share it all

Fuck man, has the American media monster have you all so jaded that good news is a non story?

I for one was kinda glad to turn on the news and see a celebration for a change, especially one where there was no 'loser'.

white people only don't own TV's so they can talk about how great it is not having a TV.

Not directed at anyone, but that could be your brother, friend, father and so on.

Imagine wondering for nearly two months if you'd ever get to see them alive again.

My 'point' isn't to 'win' or whatever the message is there, the issue I was addressing is how not having TV news really changes my perception of this event in particular.

I got no beef with TV. I just don't find the time to watch it, so I don't keep one.

When I do want to watch a show, I watch it online, so it's 20-50 mins of short sweet commercial free viewing....

Just doesn't make sense to have one based on my needs for it, so I technically don't have one, but I do watch 'Tv' shows, if you will, now and again...

Is "talking about white people who don't have tv" on the list of "things white people like to talk about", too ????

Actually, I'll say, that is pretty funny and I know some people who DO make people feel bad about it or like I'm an asshole for going to see a shoot'em up movie... I suppose there more whiter folk than me yet... ???

Cheers.

it did remind me of apollo 13 tho... and anything that reminds me of how america kicks ass, acomplishes the impossible, and does so in plain view of everyone, is worth paying attention to in my book. ...

....plus its american drilling tech that saved em - so maybe china can get coal out for 100x cheaper but our tech doesnt cost 1 life per kg of coal or something.

im surprised no one has said that this was a conspiracy...

the way it was perfectly designed for tv and the way it worked out in the end, this seems more conspiracy-y than 9/11 by a long shot.

I realize that, but I thought it deserved a fair answer, but I really didn't say why I chose the words of the first post....

No offense taken at all.

So I just wanted to clear up anything should someone read what you wrote and maybe thought that was actually my intention.

Cheers

I figured once they had a TV, some decent snack foods and beer, they wouldn't want to come out. I mean, the cave wasn't about to collapse on their heads, and they got to live without having to do shit AND getting some seriously righteous overtime. I mean, after the first 12 hours they were on doubletime. If they're pulling in a $20/hr wage normally then that's like $50 grand for smelling bad for a couple of months.

Probably the greatest male fantasy not involving sex that I can imagine.
