old school haircuts, feelsgoodman.jpg

Just got cut up off base in a Turkish barber shop. Was the best cut and service I've ever received.

I get faded, 1 on top, skin on the sides. Most shops in the US will just use clippers that get it pretty damn short and it works, its good, however this barber was straight old school using a blade and all, so the actual cut was perfect.

I also received an old school shave with the blade. He took his time, he was precise, and left me looking super sharp. Following this was something I have never seen before. He lit something on fire with alcohol on the end and constantly hit me in the face and ears with it (sounds lulzy) burning off ear hair and making the shave super smooth.

Bad ass experience, feels good to get a barber finally, had no idea where to go and get cut here as a good barber is important as fuck.

Just thought I'd share my story.

The fire bit is pretty crazy, never heard of that. Cool to see people still using the blade though.

I always wanted to see a barber about a shave, I know it's free at home but they are professionals and might really do a nice job.

I concur, I think a barber shave would be awesome. Snowmayne's experience sounds pretty sweet, the fire bit especially. That's dedication to a fine shave!

Werd barber shaves are super popular in Turkish culture. My local joint is run by some Turkish dudes who do the fire thing as well, which is weird as hell at first, cheapest/best haircut for miles as well. Go Turks!

And yea dude I was a little freaked out about wtf he was doing with the fire at first, didn't say shit just grabbed this like super long qtip, dipped in alcohol, lit on fire and started whackin me with it..

lol I was just trying to picture what the fuck my reaction would be if some dude suddenly lit shit on fire and tried to smack me with it. I was wondering if there was some explanation involved.

There used to be a quality barbers here that did all that kind of stuff but as with anything remotely "different" in Sunderland it shut down.
