Anyone know any cheap decentish hotels in Amsterdam? Got a break coming up.

HI Hostels in Amsterdam, but basically something along that lines, any hostel (dorm or private room) will due, no?

You get a locker and a kitchen so you can eat on the cheap.

Or

Couchsurfing.org (must be a member w/ references. I used this in Eastern Europe twice and many times in Canada and the US.)

Couchsurfing actually sounds pretty cool but maybe not this time as I'm going with friends.

Hosteling maybe not so good as a non public room is a boon in this instance.

What if you and all your homies FILL a public room......

There usually isn't more than 5-6 bunks per room in lots of hostels I've been in.

True.. it's bad for fuckin' if your shy....

but other wise.... WITH Friends is actually better because you get a 'private' room for a 'dorm' price.

So I'm leaving some guess room here that your friends are still 'the public' in regard to singular privacy?

There's only 3 of us- though to be honest we can dominate most rooms easily we're looking for a chilled one

and yes i have stayed at more than one hostel in amsterdam. if you want some kind of crazy madness inducing vortex location, check out the white tulip. its across the street from the gay cinema. above an irish bar (you get discounts on the food and a free beer at happy hour).

i don't recommend staying there even though its cheap. too much madness.

and if you are rich rent out a houseboat. should be about 20-40e a person for a night, but you get to live on a houseboat.

something on those lines. It's worth the extra money to have some style in amsterdam. there are some really great, classical small hotels on the canal roads. rooms are abit costly, but it's worth the bucks. I love amsterdam.
