yea but on the other hand a huge part of why china rose out of poverty is because america made the strategic decision basically to fuck its own people to help the much worse off chinese peasantry that was dying of starvation etc...

now that they have a large middle and upper class , they really gotta stop expecting policies that were designed to help them get a leg up and get out of their shitty situation by having us ship all our manufacturing over to them and have them do it for us and us pay them to do it.

they get low tariffs, free access to american tech and companies, and all sorts of other benefits...plus they artificially keep their currency low and america doesnt do anything about it because we still have this feel bad for them complex...

at this point, china still has serious problems but we have got to get a more equal relationship because they have enough middle class people now that taking care of their society should be their own responsibility... and certainly they shouldnt get unfair benefits and be able to artificially keep their currency comparatively low without getting any punishments from world trade organizations etc...

if we're gonna keep growing together, which is what american policy was designed to do since nixon opened up china, then they have to give a little back now after 30 years of everything flowing one way....our money for some peasant to screw a lightbulb together that we could do cheaper ourselves if we didnt have all sorts of unfair subsidies to make it easier for them to do it for us.


...and to the argument some would make about china being a great market for investment, yea thats true, but think about who u are investing in.... is an american investing in chinese coal plants or cigarette manufacturers really best for the people in china? or is it actually helping to build and create a society that isnt democratic or free (but might one day be), and possibly delaying the time when it might switch over by helping to fund a growth economy in which the government more or less dictates how things are developing.







.... another thought i had the other day was that if china does ever become truly free, like american free... then theres literally no way america will ever have a chance of being the top dog anymore... our one last advantage is freedom and hearts and minds, and if people could think of china and be like o yea remember the chinese thomas jefferson and john adams who created a free government and brought it to the most populous country on earth.... and if people literally felt the same way about china as they do america, or if they put china in line with countries in europe and australia etc, in terms of freedom, then and only then do i really see america losing its place in first, but honestly if that happens, china will have become like another state in america or the us and china will be like states in a larger organization.

what would be nice is if china recognized how it was because of what we did that they went from being third world last to 2nd place in the world... and agreed that they slowly have to let things get back into balance without the us and its goodwill and willingness to fuck itself tradewise causing their growth... now that they have a good domestic enconomy that grows 9% a year you would think they could do this without suffering much...

they're just gonna freak out and collapse again. Sure the country has resources, but the allocation of those resources is such that average people live in utter poverty. Couple that with the fact that almost every usable acre is already planted and the population is just growing faster and faster. Their core economy right now is based on sending cheap exports to America, cheap labor. the cities are not insubstantial but are ringed on all sides by the rural poor.

anyway I kinda hope there's another social revolution, set em back 100 years or so.
