Yeah I did look up the Alaskan history section on wiki, they didn't seem to think the Ruskis had made a very good stab at surviving there which seemed a bit surprising given their provenance and the fact that russians are generally nails. (nails adj.)

I seem to recall a fact that the man who was sent there to discover it took like 6 years just to get to eastern russian to sail and then longer yet to get there, only landing of Kodiak Island before going back.... to the Czar....another 6+years....

I think like the Romans... shiz just got too big to deal with. Especially since most of Russia, at least as far as it's leadership goes, is west of west compared to AK.

Please don't lump me in with them. When the US first invaded Iraq, there were those of us that new the only reason we were saving the Kingdom of Kuwait was for the oil and to get the Bush name out of the spotlight due to the S & L crisis.

Since then, the poor are poorer and the middle class has just about disappeared. But the Bush family and their friends are all richer.
