Marijuana: a chronic history

watched this on the history channel last night. Was pretty damn good and unbiased. I feel like they were stressing the fact that it was still illegal but kinda prepping people for when that changes. Maybe one day we'll be able to look back on it and say 'yeah I remember when you could go to jail for weed'.

"Grass" is another good one. I doubt you'd ever see it on non-pay TV, tho. It's pretty much an out and out indictment of the US Government for using drug prohibition as a racist tool. Good movie, tho. They give Harry Anslinger a good ass whoopin'

heres what i dont get, if there are approx 50% dems and 50% repubs in ameirca,

and obviously many republicans support grass legalization... at least 10% or whatever...probably a lot more.

and you would think that like 99% of democrats would support it or at least think people shouldnt GO TO JAIL for it...

so how does that not equal 51% ? either some people still buy the old, like really old now, outdated "reefer madness" type propoganda... or else they have a personal bias towards legal more fucked up drugs like tobacco and alcohol because they grew up on them since they were legal..... I just dont get where these people who vote against this shit are....

even if only a small percentage actually smoke pot,it seems like when u have these polls that tons of people support this wellfare shit or tons of people support that government helping program, that at least all those same socalled compassionate people would be in favor of ending the draconian prosecution of people who do something thats less harmful than legal substances and do it in the privacy of their own homes...

WTF . why doesnt that pan out.

I think the real swing comes in when you figure that probably 40% at best even voted from either party, then it all comes down to who was the top turn out from the bottom of the barrel.

So out of the 40% maybe over half were republicans and/or dems that were 'for' it?

Dunno how that sits with you, but 100% of eligible people never turn out, so it would seem to be a logical guess.

My Wife great up in California, and she said it's a pretty diverse state for how people blend their parties affiliation. It's the 'most liberal state' in name, however it turns out plenty of republican's in state and local office for sure.... so it's hard to guess who 'more of' showed up.

You live there if I'm not mistaken, so perhaps you could embellish on my comments.

In 2008 59% of voters turned out for the presidential election... perhaps the flaw here was not waiting until a more important election to shoot your wad on?

2012 here we come.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.
