Hey as I mentioned before I'm an engineering and mathematics(was physics but my employer wants mathematics). I'm almost into my second semester in school and am still getting used to the difference in life and everything. It's weird. Anyhow, I've been having issues with the teaching style, but I don't want to transfer schools. The science classes have all been "you read the book figure it out, and the teacher lectures over random shit and no real goal for the day style". Basically they teach in a way that I have a hard time learning from. I guess it's why I was a Marine. I've always been a hands on learner, and our labs are a complete joke.


This is a MAJOR university by the way. I know it's not I'm too stupid to learn it. Like Calculus, my teacher didn't make any sense with the unit circle and math books blow dick. I asked a friend to explain it in basic terms day of the exam and then I passed with a 98%. So It's not that I'm incapable, it's just I learn differently then they teach which is a major problem.

So without me scouring the goooooooogle first, I'm asking you guys since a lot are probably in school and might know something

go on google and find the teachers solution manual for all the books in your courses, its a lot easier to look at a bunch of solved problems to learn from than to try to figure it out yourself. some people might say that's cheating, but really all that counts is that you know your shit.

mit has for some years put all of their courses, video lectures, notes, etc for free online

if you are having trouble with someones teaching style, you should either go to their office every day, or never go to class again. its a bit difficult to find what you are looking for on the mit website, because the courses are all structured differently, but with a bit of digging you can get what you want. its all there.

also lots of textbooks totally suck balls. i found that at an intro level most of them make really good bookshelf ornaments, but are totally unfit for learning from. they are also expensive. you can find them online sometimes if you know the isbn number.

if you have trouble with anything specific i have filled all but one course of a math major and can probably help you (time permitted).

seriously theres alot of labs on you tube, ebooks and pdf torrents, newsgroups...educati on on just about subject on any level is at you fingertips .

ie:
College level Chemestry and Physics videos
Chemistry

The guy I posted is pretty understandable but lacks labs.

ive been in this place before. it's called shitty teachers, shittyer school, etc... you'll probably be lucky to run into a handful of teachers that actually know the problem domain and are capable of explaining it... how many creds u have??? if not much, get out now. i wound up teaching myself via internet + some books, and was way ahead of the classes and the teachers that were there. i got my 2 year degree and GTFO of there. especially if ur already in industry. fuck schoool. read books and forums abd tutorials + google
