The Official what are we making for Thanksgiving Thread

I love Thanksgivings a warm home, friends & family, hot cider and I'm finally allowed to bust out TSO Christmas albums! This is the first year in three I will not be entertaining, and though I love being the entertainer, its a lot of stress. This year I will attending two Thanksgivings. I will only have to make two dishes! I will be making a sweet Potato gnocchi in a brown butter with fried Sage and butter poached Miatake mushrooms for my aunt's and a Rainbow kale, and maitake corn tart for my gf brothers house! what is everyone making, and for you crazy Canucks, what did you make!

YES!!!!!

Well my Wife and I weren't together this Thanksgiving actually, which was a bummer and put a twist on things... I am not sure what she did but I know that 'for the day' I myself dinned with some friends down the street and brought sweet potatoes and baked apples.... two separate dishes Lots of good food and plenty of wine... which I also brought a bottle of red with.

Not going to heading to the States to be with family, even though I'm lots closer now than before, will likely be saving that until after the Solstice with my Wife and might fly/train down between the 25th and the 1st of Jan.

Have a Happy thanksgiving weekend.

OH actually I remembered what we are doing this weekend. We ARE actually driving to PA where my Wife's family lives, but our intention is to pick up Her Grama and get on a train bound for NYC's Radiocity Music Hall to see the Rockette's show. Grama wanted to see this with Grampa but never made it before he passed away, so this is our Christmas present to her. The timing is a little easier on the who shabang and ought to be a blast.

That being said, I'm sure there will be some family gathering Friday night since we are leaving for the show on Saturday morning and will ride back up here Sunday morn.

So there... I'm making a trip to NYC for Thanksgiving.... and here I thought I wasn't making anything for American Thanksgiving

WaHA!!!!

A real effort to not be disgusted by the overt commercialization of our ancestors sitting down to a peaceful meal with the natives...

Just before they slaughtered them.

I'm thankful every day, not just some random weekend in November.

And maybe a turkey with some mashed potatoes and some corn. I do like me some turkey.

heh... kind of reminds me of another Holicaustiday that is pretty popular...

You know where everyone gets drunk and celebrates that guy in Ireland who helped all those pagans out with their 'snake' problem with his convincing rhetoric......

Damned if we do, damned if we dont... no Puritan/ St. Patrick pun there.....

Ah, Thanksgiving. Great holiday. This year, our families theme is "All Organic". Everything on the table will be locally grown and produced, and "organic" (meaning no hormones in the meat, no GM produce, no toxic pesticides or nutrients). Me, I'm making a pie. Buttermilk pie to be exact. Not necessarily Thanksgiving traditional fare, but it's my favorite pie. Mom is making some side dish with potatoes, and IDK if my girl will be there or with her family.

Butter, sugar, flour, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, maybe a bit of nutmeg, and I use a graham cracker crust. I first had this pie at a soul food place in West Texas, and I thought I had died and gone to pie heaven. Soooo rich, so sweet, and when its warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top... OMG!!!

I really don't wanna type a whole recipe out, so heres the first google result. Looks as good as any out there, but the use of lemon zest threw me off. I'd call that optional.
