When do you put up your christmas tree?

When I was a kid, we always put our tree up sometime in the first half of december. I didn't have the greatest childhood, but I always liked christmas.

I just put mine up today, just letting it rest a bit and waiting for my wife to get home, then I'm going to go smoke a big fat bowl and decorate it with the wife and kids.

I'm late though, I wanted to put it up 2 weeks ago, but I was too busy, too early? When do y'all set up your tree?

I asked my dad that not too long ago because I honestly have no idea when they "should" be put up or when we ever put them up. He told me any time after thanksgiving. Knowing my family I'm going to assume it's likely a lot closer to the week of christmas. I'm intending on putting mine up probably around the beginning of December. No ones even selling xmas trees around here yet that I've seen.

I wonder how that would work up here in the great white north...our thanksgiving was on Oct. 12!

I had a real tree one year and it was nice, I liked the smell, but come july when I was still picking needles out of the carpet, I got nothin' but love for the fake trees! I got me a 7 foot scotch pine that always looks great!

I'm actually considering a fake tree for the first time in my life.

As a kid, our tree went up on Christmas Eve. I always put the tree up about 2 weeks before. We left it up well into Jan.

I know someone who has a Christmas room. All she does is opens the door and dusts and she's ready. I don't know about that. I'd use the room to grow. lol.

My parents always put one up around the 1st weekend of December, even after they split up this continued.

I haven't put up a tree outside of that... so it's been like 10-11 years now that I haven't.

Mombo, my Grama, sends me a few snowman dishtowels and sometimes a little snow dude and lady... I set them out for the winter and hang a little greenery around for the Solstice and that is it.

My family did the fake tree thing for about 3 or so years. Our neighbor had a real nice fake one and bought another one and gave my father the old one so he decided to use it. It looked alright but I missed the smell/feel/look of the real tree. I'm pretty sure the cats didn't climb up and inside of the fake one either. Anyway point is, I'd rather have a real one and deal with some needles and whatever hassles a real tree brings then bother with the fake guys.

The day after Thanksgiving for us.

This morning I brought a couple of boxes of things in to go through with my daughter, and we put some decorations up in the house.

I'm going to hang the lights later which will be wicked easy because I already have nails in place from last year, but they won't go on until friday night. Old Town FC already has all the light strings up and illuminated. They look great. I'll take a picture and post it later.

We're thinking about getting a live tree this year, but haven't decided if we can trust the cat. Any sort of string, anything that dangles, it's hers as far as the cat is concerned. This cat would be the one that drags the christmas tree over.
