Rausch Creek and Gettysburg, August 2010
800 something mile trip to Tremont, PA. Packed the Jeep with good food, good music, but forgot to pack pilots and crashed shortly after take off. Not really, but my stereo shit the bed the day of. It wouldn't have mattered anyways because it was so loud we had to wear ear plugs most of the time.
And a 1/4 of some righteous bud ![]() 1 ![]() The drive took like 10 hours. Two of the last three took place on this road. After driving for 7 hours the cab was very hot, even with the windows open. The sheet metal was heated through and through. The cup holders became drink warmers. 2 ![]() Rausch creek parking lot/campsite is on top of a mountain. Got camp setup and a fire started just before dark. The moon was so bright that night, it was like daytime in the middle of the night. I made steak that night ![]() 3 ![]() First day of wheeling was with these two Grand Cherokees. 4 ![]() My Wrangler is a lot more capable/beat to shit than their Jeeps, so we mainly stuck to things that were pretty easy. It was a nice, stress free day of wheeling with some harder lines and loose hill climbs. 5 ![]() Mud hole #2 6 ![]() 7 ![]() I was impressed with what this Grand Cherokee was capable of. He went almost everywhere I did with the exception of trail #32. 8 ![]() This one was not equipped with the quadratrac 4WD so there was no HI/LO range and ran on some kind of independent, electronic traction control system. there were a lot of things it couldn't hack like this hill climb. The loose footing seemed to confuse it. 9 ![]() Trail #32, blue. This one loops around, so the Grand Cherokees waited for us at the trail head because they didn't want to sustain any body damage. It really closes in the further you go, so I think it was a good choice. 10 ![]() 11 ![]() Later in the day 12 ![]() 13 ![]() 14 ![]() The first half of the day, we wheeled the recently acquired "north" property, which consists mainly of gravel roads and individual obstacles. The new property has been wheeled considerably less than the south property, which is a lot more rutted out with more puddles/rocks. 15 ![]() "5 foot mud hole" 16 ![]() 17 ![]() 18 ![]() 19 ![]() This facility was at the end of the power line. 20 ![]() Besides the warning sign, the tower was pretty fair game. 21 ![]() That night we met up with a group of kids about our age from central New Jersey. Drove to Bass Pro Shop and went to Cracker Barrel...What a ridiculous but awesome night ![]() These guys love mud! 22 ![]() 23 ![]() 24 ![]() 25 ![]() We spent a good amount of time playing on the comp course. 26 ![]() And a few poser shots 27 ![]() 28

cool pics, looks like lots of fun if you ever plan a trip out west, definately hit me up ill show you the rocks out here, during winter/spring we have water running on the trails, but i stay away from mud, shit is a pain to clean and kills alternators, starters, always having to repack bearings and drain/refill fluids gets old each weekend |
