I filled it out. However I don't think the last question is quite so cut and dry. Language undergoes a natural evolution and text slang seems to be the next step. So it doesn't harm the language. But I do think that the new lackadaisical attitudes about spelling and whatnot are harmful.

I see what your saying. I agree i do not think it is ruining language, but some people do. Just like ebonics was thought of as ruining the language.

has created a generation that cannot spell. ![]() however they do read faster.

The important thing to remember is that language is a tool, with some using it for basic purposes, and some using it for things which are more transcendental. How well you learn to use the tool determines how much you can gain from written works. So, my thought is that getting by with no spelling or language skills harms the user of the language, not the language itself.
