R.I.P Leslie Nielsen

Leslie Nielsen, 'Airplane!' and 'Naked Gun' star, dies at 84 | News Briefs | EW.com

This sucks, he was one of my favourites, a legend, and a fellow Canuck to boot.

Yeah I heard a few hours ago.

A lot of his one-liners I will never forget, like this one:
"I'm sure that we can handle this situation maturely, just like the responsible adults that we are. Isn't that right, Mr. Poopy-pants!?

Leslie Neilsen-damn.

I'll date myself with this but fuck it. It's a good story about him.
When I was 12, this show called Police Squad came on and I loved it. My mom tried to watch it with me, and she couldn't understand why I though it was so funny. She was so concerned, that she called my Uncle all the way across the country about it.
To put this in perspective, it was not cheap to call long distance and you only did it on the weekends. I don't ever remember a long distance phone call being longer than 20 minutes in my house.
All right.

So, she calls and tells my Uncle, and he laughs. She said, 'I don't think this is funny, Bob' and he said 'I watch it too'.

She said, rolling her eyes, 'What? Okay. Goodbye.'

Everytime I tried to show her something with Leslie Neilsen, she was skeptical.

And then we saw 'The Naked Gun' and she got it.

'We're sorry to bother you at such a time like this, Mrs. Twice. We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then'

Thanks, Leslie.

The Rev
No joke, the only time I can remember ever quoting Leslie out of the blue was this very line the day before he died.
