Dec 1 is World AIDS Day

I humbly offer this to the people in my life who have died from complications due to AIDS/HIV and to my Friends who struggle to maintain their health and fight to each day to be able live a happy and full life.

I love you.

World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.

Please take a moment of your Day and give that awareness to the people in your life and around the world who have lost their life to AIDS/HIV.

As well, Remember those still living with the the illness, who deserve the same dignity and respect as all human life does.

We will likely not be the person to find the cure, but I feel we can have an impact in our daily lives just by taking this topic out of the darkness and bringing it to light.
  • Help a friend or partner in knowing how to make safe sexual choices.
  • Be open with others about the prevention benefits of needle/pipe exchanges.
  • Help fight the conditions that make the passing of the infection easier.

It's hard to know what we can do about such a large problem, but creating awareness and a humanity on the topic is a good start.

Thank you.

SageTree

First of all. I would like to know if you are genuinely confused as to what the day is or if you have difficulty with the wording?

I will however address the word celebrate.

Was cut and pasted to get the thread rolling for me, that is to add to. I wouldn't have chosen celebrate, I would have chosen observe if I had know such a critical customer would be reading this.

Celebrate:–verb (used with object)
1.to observe (a day) or commemorate (an event)
2.to make known publicly
3.to perform with appropriate rites and ceremonies; solemnize

I hope that is clear now.

If you want to know about what World AIDS day is, watch a couple of those videos.

In kind

Honestly in talking with people the other day I was surprised at how many people didn't know about this. It's been recognized since 1995, by Bill Clinton and many other parts of the world followed suit.

The point for me, isn't to put this in people's face in a strong way. There is a lot of stigma around AIDS/HIV and the more people talk about them and the causes of transmission the more simple, low lying knowledge people will have, and maybe that will effect certain policy which governs help and prevention.
