so im not really the most tech savvy of people but i know a lot of you hookans are so i was wondering if you guys could help me find what laptop would be right for me. What its going to be used for most is pictures, web surfin and music mixing ( i just got a numark mixtrack o boy!). I want a pc just because i grew up using them hence i find macs confusing an frustrating. my price range is hopefully under 600$ but thats tentative.

Dont do Mac. Apples are overpriced, and are highly overrated. The real computer pros use PCs with Linux normally. Anyone who screams Mac doesn't know shit about computers. They really aren't that great if you look into it.

I think Sony makes a good PC. My Vaio is pretty nice, runs as fast as an 4gig RAM desktop. Sony tech support has always been a real treat. The warranty program and Tech support can get guys to come to your home to fix your laptop instead of you sending it in. I've got nothing but praise for it.

Well when it's under warranty, you have to run all problems through tech support before they'll come out and fix any problems. It's a standard procedure, and I'm not ruining my 2 year warranty because I want to open my laptop myself and fix it myself.

That's retarded Flamingnrn.

@liberty

i think the point he's making is if u dont know how to fix ur own shit you dont know shit about computers

not that u are a bad person, or morally or ethically wrong in some way, just that u dont know shit about computers

u might know shit about numbers, like a 2.4 Ghz processor is faster than a 2 Ghz processor, but when it comes to the actual technical aspects of owning a computer u are in the dark

sort of like how i am with cars

Also for many industries Apple computers are the standard, such as the graphic design industry

They are expensive but usually its not people like stonerkid who are buying apples, its professionals who need them to do actual business with

My computer dual boots openSUSE with Windows 7. So other than the fact that I do know a fair amount about both hardware and software, and am pretty well versed in most computer aspects. and I can script in BASH, Perl, HTML, and I know a fair amount of C++. If he's saying I don't know anything about computers, then hes wrong in that opinion also.

The Mac is WAS good in the entertainment industry because of some computer processes before they became standard in PCs also. Apple then became the industry standard. PC has caught up, but moron masses who think the the Mac book is made with better quality, when it's not.(By the way. Dells are made in the same factories as Macs. Get up on your knowledge before you act like you know all. ) They use the same components as a PC, they don't use anything special in their computers that PCs don't use. You're caught up in the hipster Mac sheep movement.

Anyone with real computer knows Apples aren't worth a shit. Their OS is a shit rip off of Unix, and they are designed to look hip. That's it.

My Vaio is pretty nice
mines old (FX-240) but is still supported and works fine.

toshiba support is good also.

If you know a bit about programming and os structure (or want to learn) linux is your best choice for now. I'm running Ubantu on the laptop.

A very customized XP Pro OS is finally working on this hp a600.

^ Compaq doesn't exist, they were bought out by HP.

I'm becoming a fan of Asus comps, the two that i have currently have been pretty solid.

Considering that Asus makes the mobos of most major brands anyway, it's only natural they make a decent comp.

I dunno which is right for you, but your mom's been a pretty good laptop for me lately, and she's really good at using her pc when we're doing the mac.

Computer pros use PCs with linux, so SK should get a PC to go on facebook?

You can get macs with the windows operating system.
