Yes. I came home from school the following day. Back then news didn't travel that fast.

My mom was crying. I asked her what was wrong. She told me that a man did something really bad to another man that she liked and she was sad.

About 15 years later my mom gave me this really flat round rock, that she had neatly written 'Imagine' on. I cried that day when I better understood the gravity of what happened and things made more sense to me. Or less, depending how you look at it.

Over the years, I have randomly posted large posters around town, that say 'I still imagine, John.'

I still DO imagine, John.

i went to NYC twice,
once in 2000, and then 2001

and that big imagine mosaic they have in the park in front of his old apartment there was this bum playing a guitar playing 'imagine' all day long, tourists literally loaded his empty coffee cup with 20$ bills so much he'd stop playing just to put the money away

the next year when i went there he was collecting tourists money again, and like i said hundreds of dollars within a half hour,

then i told myself maybe he isn't a bum afterall, he's just got business skills

ive been to the imagine memorial. its a beautiful memorial, theres usually flowers laid all over the mosiac that says "imagine" in the center. extremely somber atmosphere in that part of central park.

its weird because he died before i was even born and it still makes me want to cry.

more memorable for me was one day I was very young...

I was home from school sick, watching a tv that had no sound (we were poor).

neighbor lady came running in crying and screaming "they just shot kennedy".

much crying ensued.

I had a friend named Brian who was in love with Lennon. He wore the same glasses, talked about the Beatles all the time, and took alot of shit for being so obsessed. This was in Jr. High. He stayed home from school the day after it happened. Nothing major like that is a shock to most middle schoolers, so we thought he was kinda being dramatic, but I think it really hurt him deeply. It took me a few years, I think, to realize how serious that event was.

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.' And we kill those people.”
-Bill Hicks

This terrified little wisp of humanity, clinging to a tiny stone as it flys through infinity, dares not tolerate those who would distract it from it's terror.

I read a short blurb the other day that said something to the effect that if Jesus was born in today's word, his followers would be wearing a little school desk around their necks instead of crosses.

.... I guess that is all assuming that this metaphorical JC ever made it past that crucifixion.

Instead of wearing white robes, now the prophets are wearing tight white coats, neatly tied in the back. , are on some list of suspects or in the blurbs suggestion quelled into submission.
