any musicians or electronic minded people tell me what instrument this is?



what kind of synth do they use at the beginning of this song at about :10 or so...

if someone could tell me how to reproduce this sound me love u long time.





or just smoke and listen to this never knew it was smash mouth until i randomly found this today.

they really need to get a better black voice for the black actors.

are you talking about the high pitched one, kinda twinkly sounding going up and down?
if so
im guesing its an arppegiated pulse wave with either the amp envelope decay/sustain and release set really low to get kind of a plucky. OR you could set the gate on the arppegiator to make it sound kinda plucky. then modulate the filter freq with an lfo on 1/4 or maybe 1/8ths to get the "moving" feeling

edit: actually the lfo sounds like it might be on 2/4. i could be way off

i tried making it using subtractor and i think 2 sine waves one on octave 4 and the other on octave 5, and it sounded pretty close. i cant seem to figure out what chords they are playing... then i put some delay and a little reverb and eqd out of some the mid/ lower frequencies

some kind of synth. i don't know enough about synths to say which one, but its definitely some kind of arppegiator

why are you listening to smash mouth?

edit- sounds like a sequenced synth to me, but its clearly a sample they inserted into the track and not an original instrument, you can even hear the clipping if u listen close enough
