Ok I have an intrest that several people accross the globe talk about. Zombies!

I wish to make an exercise of intellectual thought. I'm not looking for stupid cracks about i would use a nuke or some other unfeasible crap. And while we are digging into the realm of the theoretical and slightly ludicrous i would prefer to stick to sound science and not delve too far into the not currently possible. The basic outline is are that the world has been over run. Small groups of survivors roam the open ground. Your group is located in your local area. The zombies are your classic stumbling Non evolving zombies. All classic Night of the living dead and none of the super beast resident evil crap. Now with the basic degrade we pick up six months after Patent zero and the plague now consumes most metropolitan areas, Cities, Towns,villages. Civilization is shattered any non infected people live one of two ways. Scavenging and trying to rebuild or being a marauder that steals what they need to survive. I would like any and all details to the common solutions of water power transport defenses weapons anything that you would do to survive where you would go how you would set up what you would make. Basic designs concepts and links to information. Who knows maybe someday you will find that the info you saw here has saved your life.

Looking forward to see what people come up with.
I will be posting my plans lists and designs as soon as a put it all together.

ok ill start. First i would run down to the basement where i would acquire the shotgun, Folding sport rifle, hand gun and the survival bag i keep there.
My bag includes the following
1. tube of tooth paste.

1. large bag of wet wipes.
5. pork and beef summer sausages. 1 pound each.
2 100 ft coils of rope
1 claw hammer
1 12 inch crowbar
4 pairs of socks
2 pairs standar army surplus cargo pants
1 pair of sweat pants
2 pairs of long thermal underwear
3 tee shirts
2 sweat shirts
8 boxes of 4/10 shot gun shells
3 1000 rd boxes of 7.62 mm amuntion
3 boxes of 9 mm pistol rounds for the glock in the lock box.
1 pack of bic lighters
1 bottle of zippo lighter fluid
1 frost cutlery jungle fever III knife
1 army surplus coat and a new pair of jump boots.
1 large Gallon sized zipper seal bag containing Needle thread iodine gauze bandaids super glue and a small bottle of rubbing alcohol.
1 still made from two soup cans and some copper tubing.
1 small charcoal filter made of two soup cans sand and charcoal and cloth.
2 1 gallon jugs of water
1 2 leiter bottle of water
1 20 oz bottle of water
1 sleeping bag
1 small pup tent.

After grabbing the bag its out the back door and into the back yard to retrieve the buried cell phone/pda with a stack of 2 gb sd cards containing sat-alight images of my state. These images include most major and minor cities in my state. The closest images are surrounding areas of buildings that may provide strategic aid including hospitals gun shops medical supply warehouses food storage warehouses. As well as the laptop full of games and the steel case that provides a Faraday cage effect in case of electromagnetic pulse. down the Allie and the down the rail road tracks and across the river via the narrow rail road bridge. Once on the north bank its through the industrial district to the back roads at the edge of town where the traffic clears grab a car or a motor cycle and head further north into the country side. Find myself a nice u haul truck and an old farm. Close myself up with some food and set to work arming and armoring my truck. finding a farm truck and trailer set about scavenging all the junk and not junk cars within a safe distance of the farm. A simple use of battery and alternators turned by wind turbines or a regular motor and belt system to provide electricity. Once the truck has sheet metal over all the windows and the doors welded shut i will cut a hole from the cab to the box. sealing that with commonly found roofing tar seal the holes. insulate the storage box and plate the outside with sheet metal. By using multiple layers you can set it up so that the sheet metal sticks out with sharp bits all over the side of the truck.
At the top of the truck install a steel reinforcing rack to hold your weight on the roof. Using standard chain link fences build a protective walk around the edge. You can make it so it collapses in and lays flat again the roof. every 12 inches a 1 and 1.2 inch slot and a skill saw motor and blade on a rolling track allowing you to sever limbs and so forth. By removing the feet and hydraulics from a cherry picker i can make the truck so it cant be tipped.

Still scanning all the drawings and designs.

Pole arms allow you to kill the zombies at the sides and front of the truck.

The pure fantacy part is simply to provide the most widely understood apocolypse situation. By substituteing the zombies for a virus of unknown quantification the esential proceedures remain the same avoid infected and eliminate any threat. And while a nukelear attack is also understood the requirements for surviving a simple blood born rage inducing virus would be about the same as surviving a zombie apocolypse. Now assuming tactical nuke strikes to some major metro areas in a to little too late atempt to eliminate the infection depending on the time of year it is would deturmin your fall out paterns and requirements. The Zombie in this instance can be prety much changed to anything with out much change in the situation it leaves you in. Be it the population is wiped by bird flue or fleash eating family members. And sorry for the double post

I wont get pissed as long as you dont get pissed that my pack is ment for me and my family and therefor would be distributed between 5 people. The large number of supplies distributed between me and my kids and now ex. The 7,62mm ammo is not all designed to go with me but more to allow me to sit upstaires and take out any zombies in the area around my house. Fireing as fast as i can with a semi auto AK-47 by time i leave i will only have about 800 rds thats 4 mags. And my personel ebag that i used to keep before i got the fam is very much simpler

And in total it weighs about 80 pounds giver or take depending on how trigger happy i am. I can easily Carrie that long distances thanks in most to the united states army lol.

the dew is there as a comfort not so much for the caffeine and the summer sausage for the same reason and the fat and large quantities of protein. All the trees in my area are maples and oaks and stuff so leaves and bark can and will provied small quantities of sugars and other nutriants as well as minerals And large quantities of fiber.

also there are animals everywhere here in this state.

Also i have aquired an old honda ohc 750cc motor cycle that i am fixing. also there are several blunt and sharp tipped metal objects in my workshop that will work as verious stabing and bludgoning wepons.

Your plans are unrealistic, you don't need and won't use most of the things on your list. Have fun eating trees.

When supplies run low the best thing to do is hit up a convenience store like 7/11 or Walmart. They're open 24 hours and zombies don't even eat people food.

Really, the fortified and well stocked bunker is the way to go. You have to rest, you need shelter from the elements, and bunkers are easily concealed.
