It's hard to tell because it's on film, but taking into consideration the little recoil you see while he's firing and in comparison with the sound of his shots with the officer's (who is probably using .40 or 9mm), I would conclude that he is probably using a small caliber. Maybe something like .380, as I don't think a .22 would cycle being limp-wristed like he was firing.

The pistol appears to be of the semi auto variety and while some target and sub compact models may only hold seven or eight rounds, I am going to say that he probably has between ten and fifteen rounds in the mag.

Even full sized .45ACPs will hold 17+ rounds now.

I'm with Afro, glad no one was injured and nature took it's proper course.

I'd feel sorry for the guy if I found out he shot himself in the head in the garage, that's a sad end, but to decide there will be others heading out with you gives me little choice but to say good riddance as well.
