Has it really gotten worse/cheesier or do i just remember my childhood days of watching WWF/WCW with that nostalgia that makes everything in ur childhood seem awesome?

Pretty sure it's just as bad. I've turned it on a time or two within the past couple years to see what it's like and it's always been a laugh. Definitely seems the cheese/drama has been turned up but I'm pretty certain it just seems that way since I'm not 7 anymore. Shawn Michaels was always my favorite wrestler though.

heartbreak kid. he was a great one. didnt he have a huge rivalry goin with brett "the hitman" hart for awhile? i gotta admit i always liked brett better, shawn was too much of a show-off for myself, but i can see the appeal. he was most definitely a pimp.

its probably just as lame as it was back then but we were just stupider and grew out of it
say what you will though there's no way to fake falling 30 feet onto a table and all those pushpins and the close up of mick foley's tooth stabbing through his lip that was awesome

I've been watching quite a bit of wrestling lately. Not because I enjoy it so much, just my choice of television is quite shitty.
We get about 12 or so channels, normally with nothing worth watching, but wrestling is on like almost every damn day. I catch myself watching it quite a bit lately for a few reasons. 1. The chicks are hot as fuck. 2. The story. As a kid I never realized there was a story. Now I see the story, but its pretty god damn retarded. 3. Laughing at the actual wrestling. 4. Nostalgia, I've seen quite a few characters, gay ass Goldust the other day, Undertakers old manager Paul w/e still has his moments and so forth. Favorite wrestler as a kid deff the Ultimate Warrior, followed by Lex Luger, the only man to powerslam Yokuzuna.

but yeah, ive stopped while flipping channels and the shit has gotten horrible. much more story, much less wrestling. and no good wrestling at that. i mean the wrestling quality has even went down. they are all too afraid of being injured. ps: some funny stuff i found while trying to find a vid of the first tlc match: Quote:

^ fuck i loved wrestling when i was a kid
i dont really follow it now at all, sometimes i catch a glimpse when my kid is watching it but these guys do alot of dangerous shit. 'fake' isn't the right word for it, i think 'rigged' is better if it were fake then all these pro wrestlers wouldn't be dropping dead left right and center from abusing painkillers they still do crazy high air stunts and fall on their backs like 24/7

Used to be die hard wrestling fan. Hard to saw if maturity happened to us or immaturity took over it. Seems though these days there is big time lack of true characters, just different egos. No more almost cartoon/superhero guys, just different guys in speedos with different egos and attitudes. I rarely tune in, but whenever I turn it on for a few minutes I cant recall ever seeing any good costumes, cool intros or unique personas.
Favorite was Rowdy Roddy Piper, Hollywood Backlot Brawl was some good shit with Golddust. The gods shined on me a month or so ago when I randomly turned on Monday Night Raw and it was the nostalgia episode. Had all the old timers on it, even had Mean Gene doing the old WWF merchandise promos. Definitely was fun to watch bringing back lots of memories. I think Max Moon was the coolest intro I can remember. Papa Shango was always interesting. Always dug Brutus the Barber and his barbershop segment. Even made my own barber shop out of poster board to go along with my wresting ring and figures. Yup WWF was the shit back in the day.....

In a way I think that Vince Macmahon should be looked at as a sort of Walt Disney like figure from the way he captured and inspired the imagination of youths in the 80s thru the 90s. But being that he surely, behind the scenes, encouraged steroid use among his employees and turned to smut and sleeze in later days perhaps not?

One of my fav matches of all time:
Wrestlemania 10 Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon in the double intercontinental title ladder match. Shit was so far ahead of it's time and completely awesome as a kid.

i've been watching wrestling for about 20 years now, started watching when i was 8. i remember back then that wrestling, mainly the wwe seemed amazing to me. sittin on the couch with my dad on an early saturday morning while watching wwf mania on the usa network in 1992, i love those times. but anyway i still watch wwe raw every week if i can, not because i want to really, its more like a tradition for me. since Shawn Michaels retired and Triple H left the air, it just hasn't been as good. sure there is Cena, but nothing beats DX or hell even The Rock for that matter. that was one funny motherfucker! the best times the wwe had for me though were during the attitude days when they were competing with WCW. You had the rock, stone cold, shawn michaels, kurt angle, chris jericho, the undertaker, mick foley, Edge and christian, the hardy boys, so many stars that have now moved on the better things. the quality of todays wrestling tho is nothing compared to what i remember as a kid. you had stars like randy savage, king kong bundy, the junkyard dog, the nasty boys, roddy piper, mr. perfect, jake the snake roberts, the legion of doom, demolition, rick rude, ted dibiase, the ultimate warrior, etc....
