Windex...thats ammonia, yes? And ammonia is the plant-useable form of N if I remember correctly. Its prolly them not flushing prior to harvest. Or you're getting poisoned. Both are likely with brick weed.

I've had buds that smelled grassy or piney but would gain their characteristic strain flavor if allowed to sit in a glass jar for a couple days.

i've had weed that smelled like grass clippings and it was so wet that if squeezed it, it made my fingers wet, and then i tried to dry it out but it got moldy, worst weed ive ever had.

anyways, if you are worried about what other will think then i doubt what you got is for personal use. if that's the case do yourself and everyone else a favor and don't spray it with some random shit so it looks legit, that sort of thing could come back and bite you on the ass.

if its brick weed and it smells like windex i'd water cure it, who knows what the fuck is in there.

There are definite reasons not to if you're selling- loss of color and weight- but its way healthier, and im sure itll improve the quality of your smoke.

A friend from texas told me they would water cure all their bricks. When you dried it out, they would pop out into regular nugs ,instead of an indistinct brick.

Just an idea though, water cured weed usually doesn't smell that great. if you want to further mask any nasty flavors, a piece of orange or lemon peel in your jar/bag will go a long way.

I wouldn't smoke nothing that smells like windex. My mom was telling me last year (I still think its bullshit), that people been spraying windex on the weed to weigh it down, I was like why not just spray water on it? She said she didn't know.

ive been around lots of bricks fresh from mexico, yada or buds, its all wrapped in gas, grease, shit, oil, yoou name it, they try and stash it in there to hide the smell for the border crossings.

I agree with your suggestion of ammonia causing the windex smell, but this may have less to do with, ". . .flushing prior to harvest," than slow drying in an environment of high humidity, low temperature, or poor air circulation.

ive never grown weed that smelled like ammonia, even if i didnt flush it 14 days, but then again half the people that grow dont know what the fuck they are doing, so who really knows how badly they could fuck it up.


the more i look back at my pot smoking days without growing it myself, i smoked a lot of funky shit... that had way more issues then imo was worth to cut down and trim

Usually, in my experience buying shwag in bulk anyways, shit thats been dried/cured improperly as you describe has either a musty, moldy smell or is kinda similar to the odor of hay, grass, wet pine needles kinda thing. If its improperness flushed, it'll have a chemical taste and the smoke will be harsh. IDK if thats the case, ain't smoked what he's got.

On a side note, you know what DOES smell like ammonia? Stale Urine. I'd water cure that weed, homie. Some animal may have been chillin on your shit. Eugh.

windex/sudsy ammonia is an unknowing farmers attempt to reduce pests like spider mites.

ammonia would also have an affect on naturally occuring cannabis oils...probably not a good one.

as it does when cannabis actually molds/rots.


I would go with a careful water cure but with 2 to 3 drops per gallon of a good bleach (like clorox)
