Elementary School Ranch Dressing

Perhaps someone can relate/inform me.....

I have a specific taste in my memory banks for the ranch dressing that was served in my elementary school cafeteria, but can't pinpoint the ingredient causing the taste. Most all store bought/restaurant served ranch does not contain a trace of that taste. Every now and then I will get ranch with that taste in it, but nothings ever consistent to pinpoint the source. Most recently I bought a jar of Cesar dressing in the fridge section of produce, I think the brand was Naturally Fresh, Nature Fresh something with Nature/Naturally in it. Although it was Cesar dressing it still had that taste, although mainly it tasted like Cesar. And this specific taste is always secondary, you taste the ranch first but there is something else. After I had the cesar and picked up that taste I thought Id get an exact duplicate of the elementary school dressing when I bought that same brands ranch dressing, not even a hint of that taste. And I've tried random dry ranch packets thinking the school may have made their own using packets, but none contain that taste.

Anyone remember their elementary school ranch dressing or have any leads?

What you are looking for is buttermilk ranch and I think it was fat free because looking at photos of the stuff i slightly remember the color scheme. I do believe thats what gave its gnarly taste you are seeking. It was the stuff they served in school. I dont know why but it was pretty crazy stuff on some school pizza. Ahh.. high school, getting blown , getting blown ,and free food a stoner's paradise.

Its just a mixture of paste, jisum, and bits of herb together...The paste due to supply, the jisum was the "trademark flavor" and the bits of herb so the kids would keep coming(pun "fully"-intended) back for more...

Brilliance, somethings white and creamy therefore its gotta involve cum, absolute comic genius. I heard Dane Cook is looking for some writers...

RET thanks for the input, although Im not certain that buttermilk was "the" ingredient, perhaps an element though. Ive bought many buttermilk versions of ranch and it is not present. The search continues

those suckers got quite the ingredients list on them, I think cat food is actually made first (well 5th down the line from straight animal) and then whats left on the bone and scraps is made into Vienna sausages.

why dont you find all the ranches that have a similarity to the school ranch and write down all the ingredients they got in common and see if that helps.
