Cat Advice

I moved in with my girlfriend about two weeks ago, into her place. She has two cats and I moved my cat in here with us. So far I've set up may cats living quarters in the spare bedroom and keep her in there most of the time as she hisses at the other cats anytime she comes out and sees either of my gfs cats. I hate the idea of confining my cat in a 10 x 10 room most of the time but do not want to leave her out with the other cats when we are at work/asleep and risk a fight resulting in vet visit. I have been letting her wander when we are home but as soon as she sees the other cats the hissing begins, so far no lunging attacks. I'm hoping over time she will get used to seeing them and stop the hissing, but so far there doesn't seem to be any progress with that.

Anyone with similar experience of moving cats in together have any suggestions or advice?

This is a tough thing to go through; especially grown cats with grown cats... rather just a kitten. This website was very helpful to me...

Not trueee my doggly loves his kitty brothers.
When we got someone elses cat we just let them hiss. Nothing ever came of it. Hope nothing ever comes of your hissing either :/

All I can say is, let them fight a little if they want. There is hierarchy/dominance stuff they'll work out in time. A friend of mine once suggested a hormone spray you can use to calm the urge to spray and claw if that becomes an issue. I think it sounds like some cat whispering hocus pocus.... but he swore by it

yeah u def have to let them fight it out. I work at a group home and we had this problem when we got a new kitten. But in general its not like cats ever get in any serious fights where one or the other dies. So stop being a PUSSY

I think as far as real danger goes....

You know all these cats have shots etc?
So they aren't really 'infecting' each other with anything, if the worst does happen.
Which I'll reiterate is not likely.
I doubt you'll have much more than one giving the other a few smacks in the head.

Good Luck

I would be more considered about yourself... cat bites are wicked, they puncture the skin then seal up really quite, because there is usually very little tearing, leaving the cat saliva in the wound... infection!

Assert your dominance by urinating on both cats.
