what do you guys think about this?

honestly I don't think that the bus driver did anything wrong. you can't fucking smoke a cig on a crowded bus, you're risking giving innocent people cancer.

why the fuck do people think it was "excessive." she wasn't being "obnoxious" she was being harmful to others. i think smoking a cig is worse than hitting someone personally. i'd way rather be hit in the face than potential get cancer from 2nd hand smoke.

i support the bus driver's actions. if this was a teenage kid people would be applauding him, but he is a coward when he gives the boot to some unruly grandma. the miserable old bat had it coming.

It's more a matter of common courtesy in my eyes... besides, who the fuck smokes on a bus? Bus stops are like a smoking haven.

What an arrogant old battle axe.

At this point in her life, she ought to understand that 'stupid' can be embarrassing and painful.

If the Bus Driver is charged with ANYTHING, the old bat should receive the the maximum fine allowed for breaking the law, and the MTA should perma ban her from using their services.

It only appears that he assaulted her.

She actually DID violate the law by smoking on the bus.

When you're not in your own home, you gots to follow the rules and think of the people around you.

I don't smoke tobacco, but I do smoke weed (legally) and if I were to light up on a bus, I'd expect to be thrown off for not following the rules.

and I'm sure the rules also state he is not allowed to touch a passenger for not complying with the rules, that is why we have police officers They could have physical removed her from the bus is she fail to comply.

Two things:

1) When you said "smoking woman" I thought you meant she was on fire.

2)I thought there would be actual video footage of said smoldering woman beig thrown from the moving bus.

I'm disappointed.

And yes, I don't work today, so it's wake-n-bake.

Reminds me of the Indiana Jones movie where the Nazi dude gets thrown out of the airship for not having his ticket.

yeah i was always under the impression that secondhand smoke was harmless

unless you, like, work in a bar that still allows it or something and you are constantly breathing it in

Word Terry.... I'm just playing anyways.

When I moved to BC they had 'smoking rooms' in bars, which was a glass partitioned room, ideally air tight room with ventilation where one could smoke tobacco. Seemed like most people didn't mind them. I believe the indoor smoking ban came on the tales of a workers comp board decision about employees who are exposed constantly to the smoke.

*for the record of the topic, I'm a ultra irregular smoker... that is for the last 9 years I've only bought 2 packs of smokes, gave most of them away and have other wise only had 1-2 year.

I don't nor ever did like sitting in it. Outside it happens, you get a waft now and again, like exhaust or any other smelly thing..... But IN bus stops and such like close public quarters, idk...... I can say I wouldn't go there personally.

Smokers, as addicts go, are treated rather badly. In addition to very high taxes on their product (probably 2/3 of the purchase price), they are also subject to all manner of restrictions with no consideration for the pain they suffer (take Terry's example of having to leave the airport to smoke).

It never ceases to amaze me that, in spite of our cultural profession to disdain intolerance, we always manage to pick one or two groups that are exempt, upon whom it is open season, so to speak. And it's almost taboo to show them any compassion or understanding.

i smoke and sense nobody else in my family does i have grown accustomed to just going outside to smoke. In public places it doesnt bother me one bit that i cant smoke. I can totally understand how a non smoker wouldnt want to smell my cigs or get second hand smoke.

Its a non issue for me really. Its just a matter of politeness and common sense not to smoke in a non smoking area.

How ever, i would much rather inhale second hand smoke on a bus or in restaurant than get punched in the face lol.
