I love the word awry. Through speech I always pronounce it 'ah-rye' as it should be, but whenever I read it, be it on a screen or on a page, I always pronounce it 'aww-ree' despite knowing the proper pronunciation, time and time again. And not just the first time I see it printed in a while, but repeatedly in the same immediate time frame. It's not quite intentional. Not quite automatic. Somewhere, in the divine in-between, the space between my lobes, the butt crack of my brain, the vagina of my soul so to speak.
