I'm becoming a christian
rastafarian more precisely. Not that I have dreads or eat ital but I don't think that was jah's main idea anyway. I've had these ideas in my head my entire life that maybe I was in the wrong for not accepting christ but I intellectualized and ignored them. I still draw some philosophy from eastern religions. If Jesus was alive today I don't think he'd mind that. Now tho, at the end of the night I only put my faith in one man.
any other christians on this board? |

I'm a variation of a socialist. (closest label I can think of)
I have no mystic beliefs. I suppose scientist would be my religion. not scientologist, but scientist, as I base my "beliefs" on known facts. or perhaps objectionist, extrapolating theories from the real material world. or a nonperfectionist, accepting imperfection as a part of evolution. I'm not sure of "what" I'm called...and that sits rather well with me. philosophy only interested me until I was maybe 15. I may be in fact the first "roachist" in history.

I dig Jesus. His message was a good one. Just don't let yourself get too distracted by those who speak FOR Him, and I think you'll do fine. There's alot worse things to believe in than forgiveness, non-violence, being slow to judge, and being on good terms with prostitutes.

i used to be an anti-religious zealot.
now im pretty tolerant/open to new beliefs. i'm not a christian but sometimes i feel as if i can feel jesus' love and presence in people (mostly my grandpa, a devout christian)

I'm at the point in my life where I am too busy focusing on now and enjoying building for tomorrow that faith in anything else but the tangible is a distraction...
Although I do believe the rhetoric and gossip that is passed on and that warps every story over every generation plays a big part in my inability to aspire to pretend to invest in thinking the reality of those myths can ever be presented...Most of the morals are pretty solid across the board, to lose the plot and think that under the best intentions anything but the morals are important is a mistake in judgement... aka Liberal Hippie Douche...

I have been going to Mass with my girlfriend, recently. She gets alot out of it. I'm trying to see the good in it. I grow up quasi-Roman Catholic, going once a month on average, for my first 16 years. I would like to have faith in something unexplainable. The church does alot of good things. I have a few problems with some of their beliefs and im trying to see past that.

relevant to this thread:
(CNN) -- Libya's beleaguered leader Moammar Gadhafi Thursday blamed the uprising sweeping Libya on Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, accusing the terrorist group of supplying Libyans with pills inducing them to revolt. "Our children have been manipulated by al Qaeda," he told Libyan state television by telephone. edit: @snowmayne I'd been out in the wilderness for a good long minute there. srs prodigal son style.

Gadhafi scares the shit out of me, he is completely crazy, george stephanopoulos interviewed him a few years ago, and he has this creepy hollow, not-really-there vibe going on
