Any cooks in the house!?
Not necessarily THC containing food.. just food in general.. who likes to cook and eat!? I just started getting in to it.. a recipe a week.. of course doing it high is all the more better. Last week I made soda bread.. then fish pie and this week its toffee! Also I often make a South African dried beef called Biltong.. which is the SHIT.. IMHO.

Wow.. that looks great! How do you make fish pie? Never had that before. Would you share you recipes?
I love to cook. Last night was roast pork. Made a rub of brown sugar, sweet basil, garlic powder, onion salt, salt and pepper. Packed it on the roast, cooked it for about 30 minutes at 350 (on a rack), then reduced the heat to 200 till the internal temp got to be about 145. Took it out of the oven then and poured maple syrup all over it, returned it to the oven at 400 for about 1/2 hour. Awesome flavour. I'd make it again. |

Mmmmm sounds delicious. I've never tried roast pork before. I do a roast chicken every now and again..
The fish pie is basically a thousand island sauce with extra milk and butter mixed with shrimp, salmon and white fish and a few peas and sweetcorn. Then mashed potatoes on top.. in the oven until golden brown. Oh and cheese on top! The Biltong is my secret recipe.. but basically its dried beef with spices.. especially coriander seeds. What a lovely flavour they have! M |

Oh man.. I just put some beer bread on th oven.. it smells soooooooooooo good.. should be done in about 10min! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm m
2-3 cups of all purpose flour 3 tablespoons of baking soda 3 spoons of sugar 2 cans of beer (one to drink whilst you are making it) and a pinch of salt Mix them all together with spoon then your hands (it should be quite sticky when done).. then pour melted butter on top and put in the oven 180 degrees C for about 50min. Add some herbs n cheese if you want. Soooooooooooo easy! M |

I love cooking.. mostly on the grill. But that might be the reason I've been up since 245am... sitting on the toilet... wanting to die

Going to try that beer bread.
I have been perfecting the art of infusing chili oil over the last few months. Secrets so far: Use dried Japanese chilies ground up in the blender and peanut oil, and put the chili flakes in the oil as it cools down after you've heated it to the point where it begins to want to smoke a little bit. The temperature range that the chili flakes best infuse in the oil best seems to be about 250 F down to 150 F or so, but you let it cool down to room temp before you strain it. You end up with a nice red chili oil that you can use for a lot of different things, mostly centered around dips and salad dressings. |

i'm pretty much giddy about moving into an apartment with a legitimate kitchen
![]() i have to bounce from this thread because its making me too hungry, but for the short of time and demanding of taste i recommend a pressure cooker/canner. makes great soups and can cook meat thoroughly and tenderly in like 10-15 minutes. also opening up a can of tomato sauce that you made from home grown produce months after all your plants have withered is a great feeling. also added benefit is it can sterilize things, though i guess that doesnt help with cooking.

Ahhh yes home grown is awesome. Mucho satisfaction aye!
I've never used a pressure cooker.. but the old lady used to make a mean irish stew using one. Ohhh yeah good memories! My cookies just came out the oven.. They are awesome if I don't say so myself. I seriously recommend that recipe! Only one minor downside is I should have put the m&m's on after instead of into the mix.. because they are a little over baked. But still! I have a feeling these won't last long at all. Pics coming soon.. M |

cooking is probably one of my most enjoyed activities
i have been going hard on traditional foods lately. mostly turkish/balkan style. i like to read a bunch of different recipes before i start, and then basically freestyle the dish. i usually try the first time to make it as traditional as possible, and then the second time to add my own twist and use ingredients that. also i got a 575W stand mixer for my bday, so i have been making lots of bread and sweets.

I love to cook, but my wife is soooo picky, she won't eat anything but 'ol homestyle country cookin'. I like mexican, italian and will try anything....
But she loves a lot of stuff grilled, so I do a lot of grillin'... ![]() The latest thing we been into is grilled potatoes... I have a grate thing I put on the grill, so small stuff don't fall through. I cut up 1 potato for each person, cut it into cubes about 1 1/2" square, leave the peel on, put them in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, whatever herb you like. I swap around sometimes, oregano, sometimes thyme, or rosemary, put the lid on and toss until thoroughly coated. Put on the grill and put the top on, you have to use some tongs or somethin' and turn them on different sides, until they are soft when you mash them, but don't let them scorch. Sometimes, I thow a couple sticks of oak or pecan on the fire and close the vent to give them a little smoke flavor... yum! You can even cut up some rings of onions and throw them on too, they are good together

Hi been ten years since I'm on this site, so guess I'm "new" but I'm an Executive Chef and have beenworking in a comercial kitchen since I was 14, I like the posts, especially the roast pork rub! I havetons of culinary ways to fail a drug test! Feel free to ask about any ideas for preparing ANYTHING.
